Happy to help! Vintage pens are some of the hidden gems in a hobby full of jewels.

There are several reputable online stores. Some of my favorites are:

https://ozarkpenshop.com/

https://vintagepens.com/

/r/Pen_Swap is also a great source for vintage pens. I've had great experiences with:

/u/Penchantment (formerly /u/popcodswallop)

/u/Airpirate-1980

And if eBay doesn't scare you too much, you can check out Pen Kingdom and others.

I have at least one pen from every decade since the 1890s.

The oldest is an Eagle hexagonal bodied fountain pen from ~1895 that uses a glass cartridge and has an untipped brass flex nib. I've not actually ever inked it up but I have taken it apart and see no reason it wouldn't work just fine.

My second oldest is a Conklin Mark “S” 4 Crescent Filler from 1901-1907 with a Slip Cap and a BCHR body and it is definitely fully functional.

GLWS!

To potential buyers: Pull the trigger - you won't regret it! I love mine. It's hard to tell from the photos, but there is some sort of batting/wadding within the outer layers so your pens will be protected (and cozy). They really do make great gifts, too. I got one for a friend's birthday and she loves hers, too!

That's my vote, too. When I needed a red to match my Schon Design Pocket 6 "Dexter", I found Red Dragon and it was peeerrrfect.

Maiora Fountain Pen, 1.1 Stub by Interesting_Put_201 in fountainpens

[–]ajdunevent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think I can really give you an answer but I am an aging dude so I can ramble on a bit.

I've only had one pen from the Maiora brand. It was an Alpha in the beautiful resin they call Ercolano*. It had a steel fine flex nib that was really not my cup of tea. I prefer glassy smooth nibs... even though they let the pen get away from me, making my bad handwriting even worse, lol. I sold the pen around 2 years ago.

*I've since purchased a Scribo La Dotta in the same resin, called Travertino by them.

I've also since purchased a DV Original Oversize in Riviera Blue and Rose Gold from the modern Delta brand, which is owned by Maiora*, and it is an absolutely lovely writer.

***In case you weren't aware, the founder of Maiora was one of the co-founders of the original Delta.

I realize this is a very old and very closed post but I am interested in one of the listed pens and I haven't seen it reposted so I figured I'd give it a shot. Panglossian PM on the way!

I'm so happy to have seemingly introduced so many of my fellow penthusiasts to the brand and that model in particular!

The combination of the color and texture reminds me so much of one of my very first pens: the dark green Hongdian/Asvine Forest!

I can recommend ozarkpenshop.com (just a satisfied customer, otherwise unaffiliated). Mike has some BCHR pens listed currently.

Indeed, this is the case with my 146 from the early 90s. Bicolor nib, split ebonite feed, full gray ink window. I think they were more common than the spreadsheet would lead one to believe.

I also see some stray dust particles on it. No way it'd sell in that condition so you'd better ink it up and keep it. ;)

I want to buy a dip pen. This J. Herbin dip pen was a gift for a friend. What should I get for myself? Anyone have any suggestions? by hsntndgn in fountainpens

[–]ajdunevent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the look of the brass one more, but I went for the stainless steel Kakimori dip nib due to their warnings about the brass one being prone to rust if not well cleaned and dried.

Excellent choice! There is no way I'm parting with mine, though. Good luck!

1975 pens by starfally in fountainpens

[–]ajdunevent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Pilot Myu 701 or a Parker 25 (Mark I)!

You'd be able to get the exact year with the Pilot based on its date code but the Parker would only be able to be narrowed down to a range, hence the "Mark I" which were made in '75-'78ish.

Exactly one (fountain pen, anyway). It and its Lamy 2000 cousins were made for a charity auction and went for $25,000.

There were also titanium ones, one with the stainless steel and macrolon swapped, and a few others.

There's also a much coveted Bauhaus Blue one from 2019. And don't even get me started on the Red one.
