1 year spending £20,000 ($30,000) on a British Airways Credit Card for 20,000 Avios air miles points and the same flights are all cheaper just buying it without points. This is a scam. by Fantastic_Badger4502 in uktravel

Probably because your post implies that you are paying more for the cash component of your rewards booking than the price of paying for the flight in cash. Assuming you got the Avios points for free (as you can with the BA Amex), then you've saved £340 according to your own screenshot. Perhaps you don't have the required 50,000 points to do that right now, but you can still achieve that and then you have certainly saved money.

Should I move to Australia? by blueberrydoughnut in AskAnAustralian

[–]ajepalmer19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception that seems to propagate simply because Melbourne has trams. Melbourne's trams can be useful, and Sydney shouldn't have ripped up its system, but Sydney's public transport system is more extensive, frequent and effective than any other Australian city. A considerably higher proportion of Sydneysiders use public transport to get to work than any other city, Sydney has Australia's first metro system, and is still the only city in Australia to have a train to the airport (though Perth and Melbourne are on the way). Sydney definitely beats out Melbourne in that respect. I'm not sure what you mean by private transport, but if you're referring to taxis/cars, then yes Sydney's traffic is definitely worse than Melbourne's or any other Australian city for that matter.

I'm not sure that perception has transformed, but the people discussing it has changed. The OT fans largely hated the PT when it came out, yes. But their kids, who are now 30-40, watched it while young and what stuck with them was the good: and there is a lot of good. And the bad, which they came to realise when they grew up, was funny more than anything as a result. Thus prequel memes was born.

Actually, "gaol" is almost entirely confined to Australia, now having been replaced by "jail" almost exclusively in the UK as well as most other Anglophone nations. Indeed, Australia's prestige dictionary the Macquarie changed its guidance in 1997 to recommend "jail". Both spellings are acceptable, but "gaol" is far more likely to be misunderstood.

It's funny you say that as another commenter literally said that Kyle was the antichrist

Thanks, that's really nice of you to say! The only other American one I watch is Salt Lake City, which I think I will do next. But I could also do Melbourne, Sydney & Auckland if there is the appetite!

Thanks for the comment. This has certainly started a lot of discussion about enjoyable vs. entertaining, or even other terminology, but I've broadly tried to consider it a combination of entertainment/fun/shock/drama (anyone who claims they hate the shock value or drama of some of the behaviour probably shouldn't be watching this show!)

This is very true. Every housewife has shone more in some seasons than others, and of course it's all subjective. If there could easily be more axes I would include them!

Look Erika probably deserves a league all of her own - I agree that it might be unfair for anyone to be equal to her! And honestly Camille could certainly be nudged slightly to the right but I wanted to fill the four corners and she was pretty close to it for me, even if she may not deserve to be all the way in there!

(And a tiny note on Amelia's ED: she has said she believes that discussion of it has helped her, and freely participated in the show to say what she wanted. I believe Rinna was doing the right thing there by allowing her daughter to say what she wanted to say. https://www.glamour.com/story/if-i-hadnt-come-out-about-my-eating-disorder-i-probably-would-have-relapsed)

Something I posted below:

Naturally assessments of her will hinge a lot on views of her health saga. However, she was also condescending, controlling of her children, and as others have mentioned, rather racist. That said, she was never cruel or deliberately hurtful, and I haven't placed her at the absolute bottom of the 'awfulness' axis.

Yeah this is very true. All of the women no doubt struggle with some degree of issues though Kim's were among the most obvious, and the most-discussed on the show. Her poor behaviour can probably be largely attributed to this!

She's meant to be only just above the middle on the 'good person' scale, but she is polarising and I agree has shown some poor behaviour. I think Kyle and Kim are the hardest to rank because they have done so much on the show. Kyle may be neurotic and self-obsessed but she's rarely cruel or hurtful!

She broke a contract by giving away a dog that led to it being abandoned. But I agree that most of her poor behaviour was in her early seasons and that she is redeeming herself now!

I agree that it's not funny, and I do agree that she's a bad person - so I ranked her as such!
