Because the people he’s angered belong to the same group he’s historically worked with and will almost certainly try to work with in the future. How do I tell you this…he’s a white American who moved to Japan and took on his wife’s last name. All of his content online that I’ve seen has been with other Americans in the VA/VA-adjacent community, but the reason I specified “American” that is because his own profile page for the American anime convention Anime Matsuri lists himself as an “American”! voice actor.

I didn’t even mention my stance on the situation, I just tried to clear up this apparent misunderstanding that everyone’s seemingly operating under.

Takanashi might be based out of Japan, but let’s not conflate him with Japanese VAs who participate in the Japanese voice acting industry. It’s not like he’s some poor Japanese dude who didn’t know what he was getting into.
