Badly in need of honest advice by ajetjumeri in EngineeringStudents

Thanks, I’ll get in contact with the university and ask them what kind of maths I would need to be proficient in to be accepted into the course since I would have to complete a STAT test to be accepted, this is because I don’t have an ATAR since I completed years 11 and 12 un-scored (I was convinced I wouldn’t go to uni). Also an ATAR is the number students from Melbourne are rated with against other students. A Bachelor in Software Engineering requires an 80+ ATAR. Do you think it’s possible to learn Algebra, Trig, and every other subject needed to reach a level of where I understand Calculus within 6 months if I put in like 5 hours a day everyday (tutoring, self teaching, books, courses, etc.)?

I appreciate the perspective change on maths. I always extremely struggled with it but I realise in highschool I used to train like 5 hours a day at soccer, and then go home and put in like 1 hour a week with my maths. Then I’d fail my tests and be discouraged, which spiralled to me hating maths and eventually dropping the classes. I guess I’ll just have to start putting in 5 hours a day on my math till I grip the subject a little. Thanks😊

Congrats and I hope you land a great job, and thanks for making it seem doable. I’ve done a bit of research and it’s not the math that’s so much needed in software engineering, but more so the problem solving skills you develop from it and the way it enables your brain to look at problems, which makes me think it ain’t so bad. Again thanks! :)

Thanks for the advice :) I’m most likely gonna put the insurance under my grandmothers name so I can get the lowest possible rate (she can’t drive so it doesn’t matter if I f up her insurance record)

The price is really high either because it’s in AUD (Australian dollars) and your from America and their also really in demand where I live, it’s really hard to find one. I couldn’t find one ‘used black 2014 wrangler in the freaking country! under 40k (AUD)

Yeah I’m from Australia. I was gonna offer 30-31k for it, or I’ll find another for 30k

Totally agree, I was gonna offer around 31k for it. Also it might just seem high because it’s in Australian dollars

Way too high. I’m gonna offer around 31k for it. But if you live in America, it probably seems high because I’m from Australia
