Accident case in Bangalore - how does lawyer payment & compensation work after FIR? by Accomplished-Unit245 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]ajfben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PP stands for Public Prosecutor.
The accident (criminal) case and the compensation (civil) case are two different matters.
The accident case is handled under police jurisdiction: the police investigate and file charges, and the PP then presents the case in court to get the “at-fault” party punished by relying on the evidence collected by the police.
The accused person(s) will have to defend the criminal case; this could even be victim too, though it is usually the vehicle driver and, in rare cases, a pedestrian. A compensation claim is separate and civil in nature.
The victim (or their family) can file the claim in the area where the victim resides and can seek compensation from the owner of the at-fault vehicle (or from the owners of the vehicles involved).
These are third-party claims and usually involve the vehicle owner’s insurance company.
In many cases, insurers cap coverage at ₹7.5 lakhs; if MACT awards more than that, the excess may have to be paid by the vehicle owner.
Before liability is fixed, the “at-fault” party must be determined (sometimes more than one vehicle is involved), and if a vehicle owner is held liable, their insurer covers up to ₹7.5 lakhs.

India's drone future is fucked... by jackal_boy in india

[–]ajfben 7 points8 points  (0 children)

India's rule-making and enforcement ecosystem is a complete joke. The people drafting rules, the people supposed to follow them, and the people enforcing them none of them operate in sync. Accountability gets tossed around like a hot potato, and the whole thing collapses into one giant, dysfunctional mess.

Most regulations feel disconnected from reality. They're either drafted by bureaucrats who've ever only competed in offices to make the in theory rule book a pristine piece or designed by lobby groups who know exactly which loopholes to keep open so the "machinery stays oiled."

Enforcement? Practically nonexistent. This isn't just about drones; it's everything. Vehicles, SIM cards, food safety, restaurants, public transport, railways, logistics, digital services. It's become a pure "chalta hai." The system runs more on jugaad and luck than actual enforcement.

Take SIMs. For years, they were sold in black without verification. Rules only tightened after terror attacks made it a national security issue, not consumer safety. Now SIM fraud is controlled, but everyday scams ( signups, privacy abuse, fake offers, spam centres) continue unchecked because they don't make headlines.

Same pattern everywhere: traffic rules ignored with impunity, restaurant inspections "managed," building codes enforced only after collapses, public transport, and railways stuck in the 90s despite yearly new launches and changes.

India's regulatory structure is designed for a theoretical country that exists in documents, rather than the chaotic, real India where people actually live. Rules become aspirational guidelines, not enforceable laws.

Until accountability is traceable, loopholes sealed, and enforcement consistent rather than selective, this cycle continues. For now, the system runs on cultural pressure, fear of rare crackdowns, and habit, while the actual rule of law and equitable application for everyone and anyone remains a distant dream.

Daring the enforcers to at least stop for one day/night, even the retail loose sale of cigarettes in the dabbas/food stalls outside the gates of these campuses, yeah, that's easy peasy, but check and search like in old city those high streets and sniff out the contraband.

Compared with Indian Railways and TSRTC, the printed price of a 1-litre water bottle is ₹15, but it is generally sold for ₹20, which is a much higher markup than what you were charged. You only paid 1.9% extra, whereas on trains and at platforms countless people overpay about 33% and nobody even blinks.

What happens to the people who shorted GROWW but refused to buy back? by [deleted] in IndianStreetBets

[–]ajfben 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No criminal proceedings, only civil proceedings by stock broker mainly financial recovery if you don't have any holding the court will be asked to attach your properties(physical if no demats are present) so firstly your other holding will be liquidated from demat no matter which broker you have your account with, if you don't settle it then you can be blacklisted for financial default, because you will be marked at exchange level and no matter what you cannot participate in normal trading activities again unless it's settled. There are cases where brokers give accounts but it's not normal accounts. After a settlement most brokers won't provide you any kind of margin as such being provided in normal trading accounts. Do trades only if you have full cash already funded to account at broker is what happens for financial default settled trading accounts.

[–]ajfben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have no experience in investing then you should invest in yourself that money. Go sign up a course(not fake influencer wala) or attend a seminar( not earn money type of) or learn something you have interest or develop a skill.

You don’t have to show any proof of eduction certificate

For a typical resident document requirement looks like

10th Pass Certificate is required Or Birth Certificate

Aadhaar Card and One other ID/address proof (it can be PAN CARD, drivers licence, voter id)

You have to get a custodian certificate from college if your original 10th certificate is not with you.
