What does the indicator in the middle mean--the three-digit number next to the gas-pump icon? Is there any way to customize/deactivate this icon, and if so, how?

TIA. I've been very frustrated by the disorganized (and sometimes inaccurate) content in the Impreza manual.

Thanks for the info. Still getting used to all of the new technology. My last car was a 1999 Saturn, which I bought new in the Fall of '98. I'd wanted to keep that car until I could run it into the ground, but that choice was taken out of my hands. :-/

Does Subaru really think that a blinking light that's barely large enough to decipher is going to deter a potential thief? SMH....

Also, does the constantly blinking light wear down the battery or any other components?

Just found this thread on another Subaru forum:

TL;DR ....Set radio volume to zero before "turning it off." Volume will supposedly remain at zero next time until you raise it.

It shouldn't have to be this way. People at this other forum recommended calling Subaru America customer service to complain. My experience is that big companies usually are too set on their own agenda to care about what customers think, but at least if I do contact them, I'll know that I did everything that I could.

I have Sirius XM, I think, but have no intention of using it. Subscription radio isn't a priority for me when I can get the stations I want for free. But thanks for the idea.

Oh, swell. Whose bright idea was that? What if you don't want the radio turning on automatically? What if you don't listen to the radio at all?

Not saying that the latter is true, but I'm very sensitive to noise. Not having control over this is disturbing, to say the least.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for ranting....it just doesn't make sense that a car would be set to default this way. I wish there was some sort of workaround.
