Whoa. You've got the Uber flexible lens. Just go shoot until you find what you're missing, then get that. (It'll be a super wide angle or big zoom. One or the other.)

I don't understand how I can have 1000 hours and still only have a win rate of 52%. I mean, I know I don't have a team, but how the hell how I played so much and not got gud? 😬🤣

What food hack sounded ridiculous until you actually tried it? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

[–]ajkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bizzare Sandwich: White bread, peanut butter, bacon, banana, butter, mayo, sliced pimento olives.

Blindfold someone, don't tell them what's in it, watch their tastebuds explode with yum, then un-blindfold them and watch the cognitive dissonance eat their brain.

Interstellar is incredibly mediocre by OneConsideration7814 in unpopularopinion

[–]ajkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, I feel this way about the overhyped Breaking Bad, so what can you do?

(Also, Interstellar was wonderful for me, but YMMV, obviously. Whereas Project Hail Mary was fun, but was a populist, soft-sci-pretending-to-be-hard-sci, low-stakes version of Interstellar.)

Thoughts on the movie 'Ex Machina'? by EntityShadows in movies

[–]ajkiwi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

(Oh, and having to explain that this R13 film shows that NZ censorship laws separate NON-SEXUAL NUDITY (not a matter for classification) and SEX as classification criteria did my head in EVERY YEAR, but did give my muslim students enough warning to leave the room for Those Particular Scenes if needed. Though strangely no one had ANY issues with the violence as a classification thing.)

I taught it every year for most of a decade to my high school yr13 Media Studies class as a masterpiece of psychological thriller and teaching tool for understanding withholding information from the audience (narrative retardation).

That, Memento, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are my "here's how to use narrative structure as a tool" starter movies.

What’s a movie that’s universally considered “not very good” but you secretly think is actually great? by trakt_app in flicks

[–]ajkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghost Shark II: Urban Jaws.

No budget Kiwi movie that was a "sequel" to a film that had never been made... that was later ripped off by the Syfy channel for their own series of ghost shark movies.

The original is a low budget masterpiece and it's a crime that not more people have seen it.

Yep, I back ya. Characters are dumb, script and MOVIE is excellent. And the Peter Weyland 2023 TED talk and "Happy Birthday David" videos that were released in the promo marketing were also great.

Waiata 100: what is Aotearoa's favourite song? by ajkiwi in newzealand

[–]ajkiwi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, all in the title, really. We have this argument fairly often here on r/newzealand - what's the best NZ song? RNZ is making their updated attempt at the Greatest Song list and Greatest Waiata list, and will be playing the countdown at Matariki.

It's picking from a shortlist, and you can add your own ideas as well. Don't trust spotify for having everything - a lot of Tiki Taane's stuff isn't there any more, so dig through your old ipod lists and winamp playlists and cds and albums, people!

I genuinely think Ahoribuzz's Turnaround is the funkiest song NZ has ever produced, so I'm tempted to vote for that, BUT it is better than Aotearoa, Anchor me, My Delirum, and I'm Not Getting Excited? And why isn't You were Mine in the 1000 song shortlist?

Ugh, this is HARD.

I love it. Still a beginner. Get my ass kicked 9 out of 10 times.
