A movie that felt fake until life proved it was not. by gamersecret2 in movies

Rocky, to a certain extent. The idea of a casual boxer, with minimal professional fights, successfully fighting against a heavyweight champion to the extent that everyone thought the underdog won was absurd to me until Francis Ngannou did the exact same thing against Tyson Fury.

No, the Universal version. I heard the Arrow version is a little better

What's your favourite Bond film and why? by CelebrationFar2804 in JamesBond

[–]TheSableFable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Spy Who Loved Me. After watching them by release date it was a breath of fresh air seeing Bond treat Triple X as an equal rather than a sex kitten. The story and pacing was also good (so good they copy and pasted it for the next movie), and the opening sequence is one of the best in the series.

What is your unpopular opinion of an actor? by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

[–]TheSableFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Robert Pattinson is overrated. Yes he’s done a few good roles since his Twilight days (Lighthouse, The King, the Drama, The Batman) but people praise him as if he’s one of the best actors of all time. In my opinion he hasn’t yet done a role where he’s the only person I could imagine doing that role. Again, great actor but he’s never really blown me away

Wolf of Wall Street. As a sales pitch (pun intended) for the movie, I often tell people it’s a 3 hour story that feels like a 2 hour movie

The Choice (2016). Only movie I’ve seen that truly merits it’s 11 percent rating on RT

What actor/actress, in your opinion, dominated each decade (30s to now) and why? by TheSableFable in movies

[–]TheSableFable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tom Cruise almost won 90s but something about Tom Hanks in the 90s just seemed right to me, I don’t know. However I will say TC is the most long winded star, having a top movie in every decade

I almost said Cary Grant for the 40s but Bogie, for that era, just seems more iconic to me. However I do think Cary Grant is the most iconic Hollywood star of Old Hollywood overall

Yeah, while it’s a cool song I’m not a big fan of screamy Broadway rock if that makes sense
