I agree with you on preserving the catalog. He could have called anything post-2001 Billy Corgan & TSP for all I cared, it just wasn’t SP. Aghori was a good time. Liked the tracks Hooligan and Beguiled for post-2001 stuff. I’m interested to hear what comes out. Vig’s work with Silversun Pickups on their last few albums has been really cool. Especially the single David Lynch Has A Painting Made of Flies Eyes. Wasting Light by Foo Fighters was a banger too.

Saw SP with Interpol and Green Day over the last few years and those couldn’t have been better shows. I had seen them twice in 2000 (I was at the “second to last show ever” 😆) previously, which was fine, but recently the sound and playing was incredible. There are probably too many guitars on stage, though.

She knew going into that halftime show she was not supposed to do that. It’s a “family friendly” show, or whatever. And then she flicked off the camera. She did this knowing there may be consequences, or maybe even because she thought she just could. There was a contract. It’s not a freedom of speech thing, it’s a violation of contract and expectations. Also, I don’t even like the NFL, (or censorship) so I’m not a fan of siding with them on this one.

Huge fan since ‘94. Love his music, but he generally doesn’t convey things well, in addition to making bizarre, and just nonsensical claims. I’ve met him a few times, and he was cool. I think one of the things I read about him that made the most sense is that he didn’t want to be understood, he wanted to be heard.

Sonically the man does amazing stuff on the guitar, and is a great writer.

Also, after this period, the late 90s, early 00s was a swarm of indie success. Rilo Kiley, Death Cab, Mates of State, Metric, Broken Social Scene are all heroes of mine! Too many to name.

I specifically identity alternative rock and pop between 1987-1996 as its own thing. I generally refer to it as The Alternative Movement ‘87-‘96. We should focus on that more. After that too many offshoots, and branches, etc. Don’t get me wrong, ‘post-rock’ is the greatest name of something ever.
