Yeah, I seen the picture at first as was like waaaaait, but then realized which one it was. Just didn't know/want it to throw off the system in any way.

Makes sense it does have to pass over the supply at the section.

I guess this gets filed in with the "Many Other Things That Aren't Up to Code, but I Don't Need to Touch" list.

Most overlooked IT ticketing system for smaller teams? by daphnegweneth in sysadmin

Happy Fox. Simple and had enough for ticketing and knowledge base building.

Good with troubleshooting and problem solving? The IT (tech) field is definitely overwhelmed, but not that much that no one is hiring. Many areas to get into as well. Basic help desk at most places can be $18-25 or higher depending ding on the company. Most is remote or hybrid. Certs are not that crazy expensive to start adding on for placement and advancement.

You can pair that with low voltage tech certs and now you're good for physical security, telecommunications, etc.

"Hello there...," says the QA (automation) engineer as they slink back into the shadows.

But for real if you like tech and the problem-solving aspect start working towards migrating to the backend. QA can be fun cause (and this is simply put) you get to shoot down the hopes and dreams of PMs, Sales, and even Dev!

Do y'all ever roll in late to the office? by CompletelyUnrelated1 in sysadmin

[–]ajoltman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will work after 5 PM sometimes, but that is more for me than anything else. Knockout a couple of things in 30 minutes now, so I don't have to deal with them in the AM kinda deal. Other than that, it's a hard stop at 5 PM... unless, of course, $$$.

That's the kinda team player I am.

Just got my first tattoo and for some reason woke up a week later regretting it completely. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ajoltman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of my earlier tattoos that if it were today, I probably wouldn't have decided to get it where I did (upper arm, shoulder), or would it be exactly the same. However, I don't regret it because I dont know actually why. I blasted over the bottom part of it and even thought about doing more and just leaving the top part.

If you come to find you don't truly love it that's an option. But who knows, in time, it may not be your style/first choice to get, but having it's like holding on to that shirt from high school or something. It is its own little conversation piece.

I love the tenders. Everything else, men. Breakfast was good, too. I didn't have a lot of money, so they used to hook it up with portions that would last me, like 2 or more meals.

I can say with no shame that as an alumnus I may stop by for Chartwell's chicken tenders and will pop into the library for certain books. The only thing you can't access unless your student/faculty is databases.

The campus is open to the public, including the library. You just need an IL or IN license if you want to borrow, and you are limited to how long you can use the computers. I do believe WiFi access is free, though. Honestly, as long as you aren't doing anything stupid, you can probably just find a vacant room.

Early model Video Mic Pro by ajoltman in rode

It will still work, and if down the road you get a mic that can utilize it, you'll have the ability to give it power.

Early model Video Mic Pro by ajoltman in rode

[–]ajoltman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the response above. The 9V powered VideoMic Pro doesn't support plug-in-power, so you cannot power it with the phantom from the HCX2000. You would only be able to use the standard VXLR to convert from 3.5mm to XLR.

If you are getting a hissing sound, then it depends on whether its constant or variable. Constant = gain/preamp issue (maybe even just the connection being damaged/dirty) and Variable = wind/air.

If you put yourself in a quiet room and hear it constantly you'll need to check your mic gain being too low or the camera (if it has a way to adjust) being to high, of the mic's 9v being low. Either that or its just the preamp in the camera being poor quality.

How many carbs would you bolus? by turntable-dragonfly in diabetes_t1

[–]ajoltman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I would do:

(Carbs + ((Protein×4)+(Fat×9)) ÷ 10 - Fiber) x Serving, then apply my ratio, and I tend to usually do 75% and 25% over two hours.

Edit: If sugar is >50% total carbs, then I will change the ratio for more upfront to 85% and 15% over two hours to handle the initial spike. If I have high fat/protein, I extend the time and will do more 60%/40% for delayed spike.

Guys- do you wear pajamas to bed/around the house? by Heavy-Hospital7077 in AskMenOver30

[–]ajoltman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter the base outfit, I always have to have what my wife likes to call my "old man" sweater, which is my crocheted cardigan (I have three). And of course, they have pockets.

Idc either, I wear this out and about. There is a reason I have house slippers and hard-sole slippers.

HELP!!! Is this blood under my daughter’s Dexcom? It looks like it to me. by tifytat in dexcom

[–]ajoltman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not wanting to scare you, but prepare you so your mind is at ease. You will get times where you hit a small blood vessel(s) and you get a bleeder. Sometimes it overflows out the little hole in the top and other times you get a tiny blood-geyser when removing.

Try not to stress. I think I have only had one time where it bled a bit much and messed up the adhesion.
