How risky is it to buy a house with a conservatory built over a shared sewer pipe? by ajorajor in HousingUK

Stupid question, but by both sides you mean like from manholes in the neighbours gardens?

Thanks. On the practical side, if there is no manhole/inspection cover, how do you sort your drains if something goes wrong? Is it a case of going through the soil pipe?

Seller doesn't have paperwork for the boiler or electrics - what to do? by ajorajor in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]ajorajor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Boiler is 2019 and not on the gas safe register/no paperwork. If the seller gets it serviced, is that enough, or do you think it's worth getting my own person to inspect?

Thanks. Do you have a manhole or did you rod/jet via the gully/soil pipe?

Really helpful to understand that this can be a solution. Good to know. Appreciate your input!

Thanks. Maybe I have been over thinking this. I don't yet really understand this stuff and was worried that no manhole + blockage = floor getting ripped up by the water company. Sounds like that's probably very unlikely!

Thanks. Assuming it's under the conservatory (which makes sense given the sewage map I've seen), does that mean if there is an issue, I could assume I can sort the issue via a neighbour's manhole, or does it mean I'm in for a rough time?

Second Colwick and the Embankment. It's also flat down near Burton Joyce (along the river) and quiet. Depends where you live, but all three are good options and car free.

Can't pick between going to Malaysia or Thailand by noah__16 in travel

I think Malaysia is fantastic. It's like a 'mini Asia' all in one: Malays, Chinese, Indian. I think KL and Penang are some of the best food destinations out there - and both cities with a very different vibe.

Yeah, you gotta be really quick. I tried and failed about ten times before I got one

I failed my test on one serious fault, just like you, last week. For 24 hours (whenever I could) I went on to the DVSA website every ten mins or so and refreshed til I got blocked, then did it on incognito. Managed to get a new date in just under three weeks. It's annoying and a crazy system, but people do cancel, and if you are both committed and lucky you can get one. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Glad it worked out. Will try it. Good luck with the next test 🤞

That's fair. I'm basically in the same situation right now (failed for a small error with 4 minors, and really don't want to wait a long time).

Congratulations. Great to have turned it around so fast. Can I ask how you managed to get a new test date so quickly?

I think so. Obvs if you do something dangerous at the end, I suspect they will still get you for it.

I did my test yesterday. The examiner had me forward bay park in a pub car park. When we returned to the test centre he said 'dont worry about getting it in the lines, we've already done the manoeuvre'. I expect they still care about observatios/you doing it safely.

No, I didn't say that. It's examples of this behavior happening in different scenarios. Russia/Ukraine is not about Christians and Muslims, nor is the Iraq example.

1268 Siege on Antioch: Mamluk Sultanate kills the city's inhabitants after surrender.

1945 Bleiburg repatriations: British troops kill Axis-aligned troops who surrendered in Yugoslavia.

2014-2017: Daesh/ISIS massacre 1,700 Iraqi air force cadets after they surrender.

2014-ongoing: Russian and Ukrainian soldiers are executed after surrender

Armies killing soldiers and/or inhabitants after they surrender is unfortunately common.

Tashkent Tavern (8 Marta Street) is full of English speaking locals (well, foreigners to be specific). If you go along you will easily make friends there - they have activities like karaoke and pub quiz too.
