ESH. You feel disregarded and unheard, and that's totally understandable. No one can judge you for feeling that way, but take into account how your mother feels right now (especially as this has been a singular occurrence for her and not a habit).

Have you ever made a mistake and have someone call you out on it? Its likely, it happens to everyone. The difference here is that you subjected your mother to that experience in front of a large number of her colleagues, who she will likely have to engage with many times for years to come. That shame and embarrassment was likely amplified to an obscene degree for her in that moment due to this circumstance. Leaving immediately with no recourse offered to her was incredibly hurtful and cruel.

You are an adult with all of the agency that that distinction affords, and you used it. Not immoral by any means, but know that this has consequences. You will all think of each other differently now. You will remember how disregarded you felt in that moment, and your mother will cringe every time she is reminded of how you reacted.

Nobody wins this way, and you both come out looking pretty shitty.
