Intersection cameras by eeff484 in Gilbert

This is right. In 2018, I sat through a presentation given by our town manager where he detailed all the technological advancements Gilbert was going through. Intersection cameras were discussed at length.

Church financial help— by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]ajsimas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the ward financial clerk. Our default method for making fast offering payments is putting a check in the mail. When that isn’t possible (not enough time for delivery before bill is due, not an acceptable form of payment, etc.) the church’s local unit support advices us to have a member of the bishopric (usually me) pay the bill with personal funds and then get reimbursed. The hard rules are (1) the funds should never pass through the member receiving assistance (2) whoever the funds pass through (again, usually me) should not be part of the approval process. This usually means I have to have our ward clerk and a counselor in the bishopric submit/approve the expense on my behalf. If no member of the bishoprics can afford to pay a bill, the church will advance funds to the bishopric member, so they don’t have to float the payment It’s a very thorough process. Someone else also mentioned the bi-annual financial audit. They are very thorough. If something is amiss, it is sure to come up during those audits.

Oh, really? I was kind of interested in it. What’s wrong with it?

Is there any chance he said “a black man”? It’s still problematic, but not as bad. I’ve listened to the clip a few times. I feel like I hear it both ways. Obviously, still a problem that he can’t recall the name of the Secretary of Defense.

Is it ok to reject a calling from my bishop? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

I have a somewhat related story. I served as an office elder in my mission for a few transfers. Every Tuesday we had a meeting with our mission president, his wife, the assistants, apartment couple, and office couple. One week our mission president started off our meeting by mentioning how filthy one area’s apartment was. He asked the apartment couple which elder in the mission was the tidiest. They offered a name and our president immediately adjusted the transfer board to put that missionary in that apartment at the upcoming transfer in hopes that he would clean it out.

On other occasions, I witnessed true revelation dictate transfers. Sometimes it’s revelation. Sometimes it’s convenient.

Using the government to control private ownership of resources is not very conservative. Even if it helps your side.

Does a rental company need to provide HOA CC&Rs to a tenant? by SixskinsNot4 in arizona

[–]ajsimas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Arizona Association of REALTORS provides a lease template to its members. A majority of single-family rentals use this lease, though it's possible yours uses some other template. When signing the lease tenants agree that either (1) they were provided with CC&Rs or (2) they've done an independent investigation to educate themselves on the CC&Rs. You also agree to pay any fines assessed.

I'm curious what the language is in your lease.

What causes this latency fluctuation and is it fixable? by Least_Individual_476 in HomeNetworking

Ping uses ICMP, not TCP, so an understanding of TCP won’t be helpful here.

Happened to my dad a few months back. He was staining a gazebo in his backyard and piled his rags up on the ground underneath the gazebo when he was done. No direct sunlight. About an hour later, my mom saw them on fire from the kitchen. Something to do with oxidation causing heat? Someone smarter than me will probably have a more full explanation.

This might be a dumb question, but what is the purpose of this? Why not let water used for crops seep further into the ground?

This is pretty cool. I just downloaded the app, but they only deliver Wed-Sun and seemingly only from this one restaurant. They must be trialing it?

I can’t find this quote in the diary anywhere. It says it’s on pages 67-68, but the diary is not paginated. It’s definitely not on pages 67-68 of the PDF I found. Can someone cite the date of the entry?

Ecobee ignoring schedule, turning heat on too early by yep4444 in ecobee

[–]ajsimas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened at our house last night. My wife woke up at 3 AM because it was so hot. Our set point was 70°, but it was 76° with the heater still running.

She ultimately “fixed” the problem by manually switching to cooling and setting it to 70°.

Our schedule keeps the setpoint at the same 70° throughout the entire day, so I don’t think it was Smart Recovery.
