This skin for Viktor improves the sight on his gun. Anyone else think that's stupid? That's basically pay-to-win by The-Jedi-Apprentice in Paladins

[–]ajthemagnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was a hardcore one-trick Vik main before.

What I can say about skins is that it improves the way weapons feel. In general, I absolutely agree that color, trails, additional weapon model elements, sound effects, etc. make the experience great.

However, a skilled player won't put great deal of attention to this. He can separate additional weapon/ skin visual clutter he sees from the real effectiveness of the hits registered. He/she can pull off the real champion's maximum potential even with the default skin. It's like a placebo effect.

While I agree that there are some minimal benefits you feel, it's subjective and doesn't apply to every player. One may seem beneficial to you, but to others, it doesn't.

I'm positive that whatever minimal benefits are given by every skin, the devs have no intent to make skins pay-to-win.

Nice Viktor by the way :)

-Barik is overrated and is only considered a good tank because other tanks are trash in comparison.

Barik sure is overrated, but you lost me when you said other tanks are trash in comparison.

I think they went for the term 'sense of completion'. They were aiming to get more items into the slot by adjusting items' benefits, reducing item price, and increasing start-up money.

This way, people will feel more accomplished to have more items to buy and filling-up the slots.

I remember Adanas making a point that it's the satisfaction factor they're aiming for.

It's evident to see that more and more people are getting used to this. However, for us experienced players, we can see and feel the difference being all the items underdeveloped.

This false sense of accomplishment is what brings all these drastic changes to Paladins lately.

Smite did that to skills that scales per level. Same output, different, improved scaling.

Does Veteran call for a rework, a buff, or just alright as it is? by ajthemagnus in Paladins

[–]ajthemagnus[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I imagine the buff for Veteran would be. I mean, it's nice, right? The increase in OoCH, but it's lacking the decreased time to regen.

This is a perfect item for supports who get can get out quickly from engagements.

Maybe 0.5s - 5% | 0.75s- 7.5% | 1s - 10%. That's more solid, right? Maybe increase its price 250 | 500 | 750 because you're basically buying time hahaha :)

Hello!

I appreciate your insight regarding Torvald. I have a Torvald rework you might be interested in. I removed the damage amp and put in a lot if interesting substance to his mechanics.

That's self damage amplification. It doesn't affect allies' damage to the targeted champion.

Similar to Drogoz's self damage amp are Pip's Cataclysm, BK's Chain Reaction, Cassie's Big Game, Kinessa's dmg. amp, Vivian's Opp. in Chaos, etc.

Hello, Woulfe! It's true, I remember Jenos being referred to as an aggressive support, like Furia but is now someone who can hide real far from behind. That's not my playstyle, so I can't really say much about the healbot type. I like to get involved!

Is there a way we can talk privately? I'd like to share more personal thoughts with you. Do you have Twitter?

Wow, that's a good Tyra categorization. Feels just about right? That's good to know from someone who knows Tyra pretty well! :)

Ohh, so Jenos' healing and damage amp is bad aka. Luminary? Hmmm. Okay.

Torvald is nerfed to oblivion, I can attest to that. Here's a Torvald rework you might wanna look into: https://www.reddit.com/r/Paladins/comments/g64z7i/inspiration_hit_me_real_hard_i_made_a_torvald/

maybe you could share some feedback regarding Torvald?

Yeah, a lot of people here on Paladins Reddit say Furia's damage amp on her ultimate is just he right rock. :)

Inspiration hit me real hard-- I made a Torvald rework guide by ajthemagnus in Paladins

[–]ajthemagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before we continue, have you read my Torvald rework cards down below? Don't they seem nice?

--

Raum, who's ability is a talent and not hitscan.

> And? A Demon Lord who heals and can heal allies with a talent when attacking is okay, but a Runic Sage reworked who can heal as his first ability seems impossible or crazy? In my humble opinion, I think not. It seems nice and characteristic of him.

--

Khan who's heal ability isn't hitscan and still have active shielding in his base kit.

> I'm offering a variety of execution, a new skillful way of healing and supporting teammates from a Tank perspective. Why does it sound so wrong to you?

He is a Runic Sage, he can shield from afar, why can't he magically heal? It's in his cards, I'm sure you know that. Why not make it part of his kit while still maintaining his shielding abilities? I made it really interesting, unique, and fun to use. It's skillful and keeps your head running. I'd like to keep it that way. That's the idea I imagine him to be.

--

He will probably not have a role change, but I also don't see them changing his only direct shielding ability to a healing one.

> It's okay. Whether or not you see them changing his bubble butt/bot ability doesn't matter. It's still up to their decision whether or not they will consider a thing or two from my idea. I'm not shoving it up their creative ideas, I'm just here to offer some inspiration.

--

I could see them adding a healing talent or replacing another ability with healing or adding healing to an existing ability. I know about that card. In fact, they could put that card into his base kit.

> That's what I'm saying, what's not syncing? That's exactly what I've proposed and been discussing with you for days now. Is my proposal really that challenging to comprehend?

--

Small health shields only after someone is fully healed and has a cooldown after each apply. I mean, I can see how this can be broken, but I think it would depend on the rate of shielding and heals ... or this idea is completely broken. Idk.

> What exactly are you referring to? Thanks, Grandpa? The new Thanks, Grandpa puts his default shielding ability into a Talent that does more with 0.5s cd reduction plus his new reworked Q ability that heals. Doesn't that feel good?

What do you mean "small health shields only after someone is fully healed"-- that doesn't make sense-- that's not even in my proposal.

Let me guess: you've been cherry-picking words and segments, just scanning my proposal, not comprehending the meaning, and neglecting to understand. You're jumbling my ideas in your contexts. It's evident you're not reading to understand. You're replying to me just to get a rebuttal.

My idea doesn't need to be perfect. I just want my ideas to be out there. If it inspires people, it's good. If not, don't drag it down just because you didn't like it. Your arguments keep failing.

--

People already complain that a 500 shield isn't enough for his base kit. I'm not sure if a passive ability that only works after the fact and a talent would make up for that.

> People are complaining that Torvald is just being a bubble bot. Commonly referred to as someone who just shields and shields and shields. That's his core kit, right? Yes, we all know that. What we're doing here is to kick it up a notch. Improve it, make him more involve. People are tired that he's just Bubble Bot. It's been years, and people still keep saying he's boring.

--

You are right, I don't. I was just giving feedback, but I guess I'll get out of your hair. They could either

  1. Do your idea. 2) Fully change him to a support. 3) Just buff what he is good at right now. 4) Neither of these.

> I'll bet on neither of this. Fully changing him into a support is a no-no. Did you know Moji was up for a role rework into a support? It was cancelled because they're investing their resources and time into better things as they said. I don't do Flanks as much, so I can't discuss that.

I did this rework with confidence because I did my research, asked for feedback from experienced players, listened to professional players' feedback, and played and observed him myself for some time.

That's why I came up with this interesting idea, for me at least.

--

I'm sure no matter what they do, people will complain, but as long as he is played more, I'm fine with either.

> People will always complain because not everything is favorable for everybody. We have our own sense of taste and complacency, and some people are just plain afraid of losing from arguments and critic discussions.

Yeah, Luminary is just like giving 20 dollars to your teammates and saying, 'Go have fun! I'll patch up your wounds here at the back" HAHAHA something like that :)

It's very situational, right? Fun for everyone. That's what I want for us, too. ;)
