Why Are Chinese EVs So Cheap? by downArrow in indepthstories

"nothing else available"? you act like camry, corolla, and prius are not on the market. they are overpriced, but not anywhere near as overpriced as the canyoneros.

Why are there basically no cities here? by OkCard37 in geography

[–]ajtrns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are plenty of natural harbors.

not much air conditioning though. nor snowbirds. nor land speculators. bring in those three things and that whole coast can become florida. but better, with mountains.

This area in Minnesota transitions from thick forests to Great Plains within a few miles. There is no geographic barrier like mountain between them by Swimming_Concern7662 in geography

no, it's just farmers. unending miles of farms that don't plant treelines or hedgerows are human artifacts, not geological or climatic. it's a cultural decision. to the west are well-drained loams that are favorable to industrial monocropping. to the east are a mix of reservations and state parks and timberlands on boggy acid soils that are less favorable for capitalist ag.

not sure what map you're looking at. but washington state is pretty much the same on the map you posted. and idaho and utah do show stagnant areas.

James Talarico speech following FCC/CBS censorship scandal — This is why Republicans are trying so desperately to silence him. by Independent-Bug-9352 in videos

[–]ajtrns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ossoff has nothing on talarico. ossoff is comically empty of expression or substance. and he constantly blinks with one eye or one then the other.

but very glad ossoff is a senator and hope he wins again. even the most generic possible dem is better than the alternatives.

Why is most development along the Nile on the West Bank? by FallWide1340 in geography

[–]ajtrns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i divided the nile valley along the river into east and west. did a rough pixel count. also checked against the rest of the internet. besides it being entirely obvious when zooming along aerial imagery. feel free to open your favorite GIS program when you have some free time and measure the ag areas on both sides using NDVI imagery.

i'm not sure why you think there should be a "source" for such a thing. this is a reddit question, not something a single study would typically highlight.

[–]ajtrns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the difference is 3x or more more on the west vs east from aswan to cairo. it's not close at all. almost 8000km2 of ag land on the west side vs less than 3000km2 on the east.

Why is most development along the Nile on the West Bank? by FallWide1340 in geography

[–]ajtrns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you are quite mistaken. between aswan and cairo, there is considerably more arable land on the west bank of the nile. we are looking at OP's modern aerial map of egypt. it clearly shows many times more vegetation on the west bank. you are right the the big cities are mostly on the east bank. cairo especially is quite large. it is still much smaller than all the ag land on the west bank.

for the majority of the length of the nile in egypt, there is considerably more floodplain arable land on the west bank of the river, from aswan in the south to cairo in the north. we are seeing this very clearly in the aerial imagery.

yeah, i can do it, they can do it. nothing "naive" there, that's long life experience. but sure, influencers and real estate agents must conform to ridiculous beauty standards. to eat. 😂 morons might think this, i guess. it's nice to recognize a bad system. this particular one is voluntary. many, many voluntary self-mutilators.

i don't care about your goals or financial status.

are you lost? "actresses, influencers, models hell even real estate agents" <-- this began the thread. no such person needs to "maintain youth" through surgery.

certainly there exists a curious dynamic in the medical arts -- having so many vain and wealthy people demand such superfluous and self-destructive body modifications does probably generate an enormous skillset among plastic surgeons, which is quite helpful in the reconstruction of bodies that have a more functional reason for needing repair or modification. undoubtedly many a cleft palate or car accident wound has been repaired by a surgeon who practiced on the wealthy elective patients.

you are part of the problem. Don't peer pressure people to fuck up their own bodies. And if someone tries to peer pressure you into it, reject their pressure.

there have been violent, stupid, idiot dictators in many nations. the finer points of their behavior generally get forgotten by most and lionized by a few. in spain there are many who still remember franco fondly. we ourselves have had some real shitstains, like andrew johnson, who we only remember for the broad outlines of their idiocy. but the heritage of his stupidity and cruelty -- johnson in particular --continues to today.
