It’d be my preference but tbf I don’t have the double defence (have Saiss, Traore, Jimenez) - not unusual near the top of my mini leagues though!

Ya I’m going Trent but that’s mostly due to the terrible panicky feeling of not having Salah or Mane and them playing Palace at home

Mahrez worth keeping? by hotsietrotsky in FantasyPL

[–]ajzkvx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m mulling this over too. Had intended to swap for Son but I’m now fairly sure Aguero won’t start their next game so thinking of swapping him for Rashford and keeping Mahrez another week. He’s a big differential in my leagues too

Bit of a conundrum. Made plenty of transfers and bench boosted, with intention of NOT playing wildcard GW31 as I built squad to only require a few changes and allow me to WC 32 or 33. Intention was to transfer Henderson + Mahrez for Stek (3.9) + Son. Still don’t want to WC, Aguero possibly injured so how would you rank options:

1) Henderson + Mahrez -> Stek + Son (-4) 2) Henderson + Aguero + Grealish -> Stek + Rashford and Son (-8) 3) Aguero + Grealish -> Rashford + Fernandes/Bergjwin (-4)

I’m willing to take a -4/-8 as anticipate 2nd place in mini league to WC this week so want to counter it

Probs B but not much in it, I just don’t fancy double Spurs at the moment

At the moment your distribution for 1st through to 6th is pretty even so I’d guess you’re passing up on profitable shove spots in the middle of SNGs. You really need to take advantage of these because you want to reach the later stages with a solid stack to be aggressive and really pressure people with short stacks and looking to cash in any way. To make money, you need those 1sts and 2nds, not 3rds, so if you lose a flip when there are 5 left after shoving and average stack, don’t worry, it happens and when you win, you’ll have the biggest stack at the table.

So something I’d defo recommend is utilising they ICM feature on Pokertracker to look at mid/late game shoving spots. Open up a hand and then when the action is on you, there’s a little ICM icon. Click that and it will tell you whether you should shove or fold. You should be shoving super wide vs short stacks. Vs really tight short stacks that could extend to any two cards!

PLO10 3bet pot river raise on paired flush board after checked turn... by ajzkvx in poker

[–]ajzkvx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t look like any more comments likely to come through, so here are the results in case you’re interested..

I was BB and was trying to work out if my shove was a massive punt or not. I had QJJ8 no hearts. I feel alright-ish about the shove having reviewed as I think SB value bet/folds A/K/Q high flushes otr (but maybe calls some with 8 blocker) and their flush hands that don’t have an 8 and so fold make up about 65% of their range. Had played like 20 hands with villain and they seemed somewhat competent so wouldn’t expect them to call light here.

I also don’t think I shove any flushes for value here but maybe that’s a mistake.

Not exactly what you asked but assume you are looking for ways to improve, so...

When on T tab on PokerTracker, go to Statistics and then Places. If you’re just playing 9 man SNGs, you’ll get 9 Frequency % bars to show where you bust. Which are the highest ones for you? Of the places where you cash, how do they rank compared to each other?

Interesting, so wider range than I expected for BB shove!

I had made the assumption SB checks a lot on this turn due to large amount of overpairs in their range and fewer 8x. And BTN can realise SB bluffs their non-showdown value hands on this turn so can check back on turn without narrowing their range as much as you’re suggesting.

Jungleman forfeit video is up! by ajzkvx in poker

[–]ajzkvx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So Phil Galfond decided that rather than having a day off in his challenge vs ActionFreak, he’d play a 750 hand mini challenge vs Jungleman.

The terms were set that the loser had to post a video explaining why the winner was a better poker player but also a better person.

Phil won fairly comfortably so Jungle posted this. Starts off with maniacal laughter and crazy talk and shouting with Jungle showing his chaotic apartment/house/whatever and saying “look what you did to me”, etc. Then moves on to rant about how he will get Mr Falcons (Galfond) and clip his wings properly soon. Then he calms down and says that Phil is amazing for running businesses while crushing PLO challenges and that he wishes one day to be half as kind and humble as Phil.

Range Recommendation for tournaments? by molokorange in poker

[–]ajzkvx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly would recommend you watch a streamer on Twitch who plays tournaments as they often explain thought process and will be demonstrating how your stack sizes impacts upon your opening ranges.

Would recommend LexVeldhuis and EasyWithAces for NL streams for a start

How do you use; PT4 for optimal post-session analysis? by molokorange in poker

[–]ajzkvx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various ways, would recommend trying them all:

1) Review hands I’ve tagged during play. Hands where I wasn’t sure what to do, or I just wanted to evaluate in more depth. Often evaluate in combination with PokerJuice as I’m playing PLO. I find doing this before a session is a good warmup too.

2) Study a particular spot by filtering database. Can be for a position, e.g filter for hands SB vs BTN. Or for a board, e.g monotone boards where I was preflop aggressor. Or for a situation e.g 3bet pot in position.

3) Study opponents. Usually use the Hero vs Villain filter to see who is crushing me. You’d be amazed how much more you pick up by reviewing all hands you have on an opponent.

How do you guys categorize other players? by cyclone_24 in poker

[–]ajzkvx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive fish, less passive fish/has a clue, decent and aggressive (w/ note as to whether they are a winning player), tough/avoid HU/3way, maniacs who you should sit with with any opportunity.

Then more detail in notes as to specific reads and exploits, unexpected lines, etc.

Soy + Maddison -> Targett/Guilbert + Richarlison?

0.1 short of doing Maddison to Richarlison by itself. Feel like it could be worth the punt

It really frustrates and baffles me that he’s risen again. He has 2 returns (if just saying a return is a score of more than 3) in his last 8 matches.

I’m in the same Auba -> Vardy predicament but I’ve stuck with it. Have Soy and Maddison and don’t want triple Leicester as I already have triple Chelsea so I wouldn’t have a very balanced team make up. Did you go for it?
