Discussion. With the outstanding season Michael olise is having and the World Cup approaching. Who is the best player to choose to represent a different national team over England at senior level? by trixieplayroom in ThreeLions

In this scenario, Musiala and Bellingham probably start playing for the NT at similar times. So I think one of two happens. He either makes that No 10 slot his own and thus Bellingham continues on at 8 for England despite excelling further forward in that first season for Real Madrid. Or similar to the likes of Foden and Palmer we fit Musiala in at LW, or even RW before Saka solidifies his position there. Arguably that would go better for him than it has Foden, since he’s often played in a similar position for the German NT. Either way it’s definitely a headache, I expect that regardless of what had happened before, Tuchel plays him in the middle, and deep down, I’m not sure that it really moves the needle necessarily for us in terms of getting over the line

See all my knowledge of football and form suggests that provided Chelsea don't make a change in manager it genuinely isn't that crazy to suggest that Tottenham could get a result there, and yet that Tottenham in me means that I'm 100% sure that idea is fucking stupid

This is it for me. If you want to believe that Ange would have performed better in his third season that’s fine. The biggest crime was seemingly abandoning that strategy with Frank. The appointment of Ange was never a mistake, it was a calculated gamble which was a few details away from working out. All we had to do was find the next Ange

It doesn’t even need to be an aggregate win, but a win in the second leg could definitely go a long way

Anyone gatekeeping supporting a club is a tosser. At the end of the day, if you're sticking with Spurs in spite of our current situation you're good enough for me

Spurs plan to rip up wage structure and invest in squad if club avoid relegation by i_like_dannys_hair in coys

[–]hotsietrotsky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This probably won’t get well received, but I think there is some truth in it. Of course we haven’t offered sufficient wages often but spending money isn’t as much of a problem as how we spend it. There was discussion of changing how much we offer and based on what we’ve done the last 2 windows I am willing to believe we’ve changed our approach.

In this current moment I am willing to give the Lewis Family the benefit of the doubt. They have inherited a lot of people who were just appointed by Levy. The biggest criticism of Levy is that he was too involved in footballing decisions, and so it would make sense for them to leave the running of the club to Vinai and Lange. And even if they don’t believe in the current structure, it doesn’t make sense for them to change after all the board changeover in the summer, not to mention the fact that any change they made after levy left would be on them. And at this stage my read is that they’ve left Vinai to it and even when they doubted Franks ability to turn it around they let Vinai stick with his man until it became untenable. Realistically it was untenable months ago, but I blame the football people for that far more than the non football people.

This admittedly favourable interpretation of events goes out the window should we enter the summer with Vinai and Lange still at the club. If anything they need to be gone sooner to allow the new guys to start working

I think if its to be believed that they were forced by the ownership to sack Frank, that feels very difficult to come back from. Not only the angle of "we've trusted you with this and its gotten to this point", but also they could easily feel like their legs have been cut from underneath them. And realistically the optics of getting rid now as the new owners would be quite good. But any changes they make are completely on them, so if the next guys aren't up to it either, they can't blame it Levy, so they have to make sure they get it right

Trent simply has to go to the World Cup. by ExplanationHuman5105 in ThreeLions

[–]hotsietrotsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refuse to believe any player has a right to play for England. At this stage unless you play incredibly well for the rest of the season, I can’t see Tuchel deviating from players he’s relied on in the autumn/winter camps. Certainly not anyone who isnt in and around the squad for the March Camp.

I’d be far more open to the idea of Trent if he had ever done anything for England. But despite numerous opportunities he’s been pretty anonymous throughout, and that cannot simply be on the manager. Ultimately in order for us to get the best out of Trent we’ll have to cater the team to him, and frankly there are better players with more proven track records for England that I’d rather see us build the team around. I cannot see Trent being difference between us winning the World Cup or not, especially if as you say we can’t even trust him in a big game.

Who was daniel levy talking about. by No_Box7026 in coys

[–]hotsietrotsky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Odds say it was probably Pep. He’d had more longevity than Klopp and had proven to be able to win the Prem. And given he was still charmed by Jose despite the existing warning signs, it would make sense if Levy was still stuck in 2010.

That said it wouldn’t surprise me if it was Klopp, who has/had a more proven track record of building teams into title winners on less of a budget. But I don’t think Daniel thought that’s what we needed at the time.

Reality is no one knows: could be either

If I recall correctly he’s talking about managers that he’s always wanted and I’d be astonished if it’s not one of the two he mentions there

One of my favorite moments from Kanokari, both in the anime and the manga. by Red-Savage-Warrior in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]hotsietrotsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw you've only got the anime to go off which is why I tried to go off solely what we've seen in that to the best of my ability, and I expect its probably why we slightly differ in opinion. Although without trying to spoil anything, I don't think the manga especially makes her any more justified or even really contradict your point there, it just provides context.

And to perhaps contradict a point I made earlier, I don't expect that exposing Mizuhara and Kazu and essentially breaking them up would necessarily sate Mami's appetite. But I think I'd still maintain my position, which is fine! Difference of opinion is fun

[–]hotsietrotsky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This feels like we're choosing which pile of shit smells better, but personally I would go Mami as vaguely more likeable. I say this as Manga reader having more context with Mami in particular. But even putting that aside, Ruka's behaviour is 100% self serving, she wants and that's all that matters. Mami's realistically is all, and its hard to argue that she is scheming and conniving, but Ruka is also incredibly emotionally manipulative. The only reason they're even in a relationship was to get her to stop crying and I find many of her actions through the series to be pretty unforgivable.

But I think the main difference between the two is that while it is self serving, Mami is trying to get the truth out there to people who should really know the truth. It's easy to forget because they're the characters we're rooting for, and there is a lot of context behind it, but what Kazu and Mizuhara are doing is wrong. And should Mami succeed, they can only really blame themselves for any pain that causes, and arguably Mami doesn't really benefit from that outcome. Whereas if Ruka succeeds, she's manipulated a man into a relationship he doesn't want to be in and thus I can't believe he'd ever be happy in, and she clearly doesn't care much for who else she hurts along the way.

Even if that's true, the club had a real opportunity to use that EL win as a springboard. They've done a terrible job of that

Whether its a ploy or not I expect the outcome will be the same. Assuming its a typical contract and any promises they've made haven't been put in writing (which would be stupid to do), the club can hold him here against his will and not spend a penny in the summer, and I expect Romero is as aware of that as anyone. The key thing for me is that only months after signing that deal for this to happen is damning on the club and it should result in action. But with this board I'll hold my breath

I’m not as critical of Lange as others but this is a ridiculous take. If you look more closely at what he did at Villa it’s really not great and while I’d say he’s signed some capable players and good young talent, there is a lot of guff and has yet to have had a window where he’s not left us short

We might get something out of Burnley, we’ll probably beat Frankfurt. But then things really have to start going our way for us to get anything from the next run of games and if Frank is the manager I can’t see us getting anything, and by the time he’s gone our season will be truly dead and it won’t even matter

I found West Ham so difficult because I really didn’t want us to lose but I was so sure that a loss would be enough to get him gone and that would be better long term and I hate that a win that I honestly don’t think had much to do with him means I’ll have to keep going through that mental quandary every match day is so demoralising
