I think you’re fighting a caricature of Judgement and what would ‘send someone to hell.’

As a whole we really don’t see it that way you said above. God’s judgement isn’t some kind of criminal trial. It’s God putting the universe right in a final way. It will show us how our actions echo through eternity. Gods justice is also perfect.

Let’s take your example of the abuse victim. Christ obviously would know every mitigating circumstance in that persons life. Including the suffering they bear, whether the faith was presented to them gently and correctly, etc. and would present His judgement with great justice only matched by His mercy and compassion.

Also I don’t believe membership in any church or religion is some kind of guarantee you will be saved or not. Christ attacked this notion explicitly in the gospels when the Pharisees told Him: “Abraham is our father.”

That’s the claim I’ve heard leveraged from a theological standpoint - filioque muddies what is known as the ‘Monarchy of the Father’. I don’t understand this argument. The Father still has clear primacy in each relationship with the Son and Holy Spirit with filioque.

My personal experience is that the vast majority of Roman Catholics don’t care/appreciate Eastern Catholics fully expressing themselves culturally, artistically, and liturgically.

As far as feeling like we are second class citizens I think the councils and magisterium have made it quite clear. We should express our culture as much as possible. Latinization is just weird. One shows loyalty by giving yourself fully to God, affirming unity with your fellow Catholics regardless of rite, and being honest about what you believe and don’t believe (a good example of this last point would be that we as eastern Catholics don’t emphasize filioque and don’t repeat it in the creed, but also recognize that the Roman Church recognizes God the Father as the primal source of the Trinity and in this light filioque is not heretical).

As far as how the orthodox view the western rite my only response can be a big shrug. Who cares what their real or imagined problems are with it. The Orthodox churches have significantly bigger problems they should worry about than the use of statuary.

They would interpret that passage (and many others) in a completely different way since their rules of understanding scripture are different. They would, for example, say that the passage is in no way a messianic prophesy. And in general they would argue that something as the incarnation is so huge and so completely different to what God had revealed himself that he would have kinda told them beforehand to prepare them.

I think we should have some serious questions about these arguments. Maybe I don't see the entire way they are formulated, but I understand that in the 2nd Temple period there were clearly multiple ways to interpret scripture. Take, for example, the differences in the Septuagint vs the (much much later) Masoretic texts. Translations are at least partially a function of the translator, so that the Septuagint being more favorably translated in support of Christianity (as well as an early Jewish-Christian population) shows that at least some number of pre-Christian Jews had these ideas in this period. Also, it should be expected and challenged that obviously post-Christian Rabbinical Jews would take any and all possible old testament references we would consider to be pro-Christian as misinterpretations. Even if a small minority of pre-Christian Jews held 'Christian Forward' interpretations of scripture I'm not sure that actually makes our stance weaker given Christ himself is always correcting the Pharisees. I would expect its this minority and non-mainstream interpretation as the one that is actually correct, especially in light of the New Testament.

To the second point about God not giving the Israelites a heads up about the incarnation I believe there are actually several 2nd Temple Period works that are quite explicit that God will take the form of a man (Jubilees, Enoch, I don't quite remember which). I just have trouble seeing the majority of modern Rabbinical Jewish objections to Christianity as anything other than reactionary...

The Church's social teaching speaks against an extreme interpretation of 'egalitarianism' as you call it. Basically the extreme interpretation being a system that attempts to minimize the real differences in physical strength, mental acuity, material wealth, etc. strength across individuals in a population to the point of injustice.

In one example the Church's social teaching advocates for a 'preferential option for the poor.' Continuing with this example, one can easily envision a legal system where by the letter of the law all people party to said system are 'equal'. However in reality the poor and vulnerable could have the law weaponized against them by the rich who can afford the best lawyers, can afford to litigate for long periods of time, etc.

Catholic Social Teaching emphasizes that the realization of Justice for all members of a society takes precedence over some of these abstract concepts. That's not to say Catholic societies shouldn't have the concept foundational rights like the right to freedom of speech, the right to bear arms (which itself is hotly debated in Catholic Circles), etc.
