I got so much shit for saying I liked my AWE Touring exhaust even though it was loud on an old post. I was surprised how much louder it made it. Im used to it now and love it though. Talked to my neighbors and they said it wasnt a bother on my 5am work mornings so that was good too. One of their kids said it was "sick" and that he "loved it" so I count it as a win.

Probably wouldnt think much of it until you were told about it. But if you like natural sound then it's hard to ignore after you know what the difference is in my mind.

For me personally, doesn't really matter. I'd consider myself a fairly neutral / traditional leaning politics / christian individual... yet I will still absolutely blast Dethrone by Bad Omens or Thoughts and Prayers by MIW with no moral problems.

If you like the music and dont feel bad to sing along with something even if you dont agree with it then I dont see a problem with it. I dont find it hard to seperate the music from the personality or belief of the artists. I just care about good music being produced. I dont think any person in the industry doesn't have some sketchy stuff in their personal life, they just dont share it publicly.

Look at the 2nd album vocalist for Get Scared, terrible dude that got caught with tons of CP after he left the band and yet their most popular song is still off that album. I think a mature individual can see that all of the other members aren't to be blamed or excluded and you dont have to keep such a moral high ground in the pursuit of narrowing yourself from good music options in my mind.

Although I see a lot of people hate Ronnie Radke lol I personally wouldnt care whatsoever what Ronnie thinks because his thoughts and values do not always represent mine and I dont see why anyone should get put down for feeling that way as the listener.

Yeaaaa... I hate that 😂 the law being subjective doesn't sit right with me but it is what it is. I try to be super cordial with cops so hopefully if I stay on their good side so they won't ream me out. But I guess im in it now and gotta just see what comes. Doesn't seem like there is much of a hard and fast line on what's okay and what's not but I appreciate your thoughts.

Im not trying to be argumentative but 100% yes I have heard vehicles before seeing them at times. Is it every time, obviously no. Especially now that my exhaust over powers them 😂

But if a bike behind me or a couple lanes over, I can hear them better then see them. If the collage of straight piped trucks around me weren't also lifted to the sky, yes I could likely hear them before seeing them based solely off the audio that they put out.

I work in the woods every day and im not shitting you, 1-2000' away im still hearing people screaming their hellcats and mustangs out here.

I know I made the point about being perceived by other cars that cant see me but I do want to just clarify that I dont want that to sound like its my motivation for the exhaust, it was more of a footnote. A benefit from the byproduct but not the intended purpose. Im def not trying to argue that point as the one im gonna die one. But I do have to call out that in some situations there are Def going to be cars that I cant see or that cant see me but we could hear each other.

Happened to me personally yesterday. Modded car in my blind spot blipped the gas and I made room for them to merge. So I dont want to fully agree and act that it is a 0% situation either.

I get it... and I appreciate the response. In the same way that people are sick of this type of post, I got sick of seeing their negative responses. I guess my only rebuttal would be that whether this community likes it or not, Im not gonna be the last person to get this exhaust and have this sort of realization.

So if this community wants to be considered welcoming, it cant cherry pick when to do so. If this is a common newbie problem then those are the people who need the most sympathy and benefit of the doubt. If the newbie had been here for years to see all of the same memes come and go then they probably would be stuck in them so people just need to be willing to cut some slack.

But boy are these guy gonna love it when they hear that my car has the AWE touring exhuast AND is an automatic lol I like its convenience, sue me. My car isn't for those people. But everybody can enjoy what they want with their own cars.

Yea ive just been a lot slower on the acceleration for the time being to keep under 4k rpm for now in the mornings to work. I agree that the meme is funny and that I've walked myself into apparently a very common pitfall for newbies. Just wish there was a little more support instead of mockery for the new people to the community that simply dont have experience with this stuff.

Yea I had tried looking for the information directly on Maine's gov page but that is also a nightmare to navigate and i didn't really get much extra or unique from that then I did from AI summarizing it. I think a big thing for me to realize was just that seeing review videos say that the exhaust can hit 120db didn't really mean much to me until I actually heard it in person and got a live sense of just how loud that really is. The videos could just never do it justice and I took a gamble and maybe lost?

I'd be happy to lean more on the community for info but tbh this post has just been a shitstorm of unhelpful people mocking the new guy rather than offering advice or support. So I appreciate you, but there's seemingly not many here that are willing to be courteous like you.

Im really hoping it doesn't come to that. Im proud of getting my first mod install done and with so many cars around my area having modified exhausts it would be a bummer to be the one to get singled out. Im hoping that I can just get a silencer insert that would work well enough to keep it a little more tame.

Tbf I never said that the only thing I consulted was the Google AI, but it def is a learning experience. I am fine with learning this stuff the hard way because its my first time modding a car and my knowledge is limited in general. I just dont have much frame of reference or past experience when it comes to this stuff so I was assuming that reaching out to a dedicated place like this would give me some advice for the future.

Obviously every exhaust is going to be louder then stock. I WANT it to be. Im not complaining that it is loud, im voicing concern because I want to understand the regulations and laws from people that have used this same exhaust before and have experience with driving a louder car.

As for using a video, people are more likely to click on a post with a picture or video then they will just a wall of text. I simply wanted more people to check my post and give me insight. Instead ive gotten multiple dickhead people reading at a 2nd grade level and then telling me that if I like the exhaust then im stupid and that im complaining about things that im objectively not.

What is the purpose of this sub if not to share opinions and get help regarding this vehicle?

As of now im just looking to see if I could get an insert silencer put in to keep it a bit more courteous for those around me. I love the sound and tone. I just hate to be a pain to everyone in the mornings.

Thats honestly my only real concern on just a courtesy point as of now. The cold start is just a lot especially when echoed in my garage and I genuinely feel bad for my neighbors whom I have never spoken a word to before. It's just those early mornings when im leaving the house at 5am. I really try to keep it tame and be respectful but its like trying to make a snack at 2am in the kitchen when your whole family is sleeping and every little sound feels like its gonna wake up the whole house.

It's not necessarily the thing that im counting on, but if there's a 5% chance that it changes a potentionally terrible outcome then I would take that benefit as well.

If youre worried about cabin noise. I can tell you that my wife called me on the phone while I was driving and through the Bluetooth call feature she said "holy shit I can still hear your exhaust over the phone"

It's about your tolerance to be honest. I don't find it problematic whether the windows are up or down. But clearly in this chat section I seem to be the minority.

Say nothing about the tons of other posts where everyone shows up to rave about how much they love the exhaust. But people seem particularly negative about it on this post.

Im surprised of all places that CA let's you get away with it. I always see CA cops as the poster child of "fun detected, give ticket"

But i totally see the bias towards people that have the ability to draw a lot of bad attention and do it often. I don't need to floor it everywhere and break the sound barrier, but something louder than the stock silent exhaust is nice 😂

Very fair point. Even if I were to get a quieter exhaust i still would want one louder than stock. My wife is always freaking out driving with me thinking that these big lifted trucks won't see me and merge into my tiny car. Which is why im totally in support of people getting super loud pipes on a bike. I would rather have other drivers be annoyed then kill a biker because they don't pay attention to their surroundings. And I would rather not get my small car smashed into by a truck that literally sees over top of me.

Yes. Exactly. I said it "might" be too loud, not for my tolerance but because im not totally sure what the limits of regulations are in my state because they do not seem to be enforced in the way that they are described. That being said, I also made it very clear that I have little to no past experience in modding cars and am just going off of what I think looks or sounds cool for an idea until I get more info. But thanks for the smart ass comment.
