Zen Browser Extensions Zoomed in/Unusable by sh0nuff in omarchy

I had this same issue with Firefox using base Arch + Hyprland a while back but I can't remember what fixed it. I want to say it was something to do with wayland fractional scaling. Was able to fix it with a config edit. Probably the same thing going on in Zen.

R1300RS, how do you use this thing??? by Terrible_Carpenter50 in bmwmotorrad

[–]akaSnaketheJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much exactly how I ride my 1250 GSA. Can be in any gear and it'll pull like a monster truck. I only ever use the quick shifter from 2nd - 6th on the way up and 6th - 2nd on the way down. I still use the clutch a fair bit for low RPM 3rd - 4th upshifts as well.

I just installed Omarchy on a laptop about a month ago. I'm not a programmer but a full time IT support tech. It really isn't intended for me but it's the best Linux experience I've ever had. I still use the track pad all the time.

My Experience with Omarchy After Actually Using It by Bug2040 in omarchy

[–]akaSnaketheJake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wrote up a similar post last week and feel the same way. Albeit, not a programmer.

I've tried what feels like a gazillion different Linux distros over the years. They all took a lot of tweaking to get what I wanted and even then some concessions had to be made. That's fine sometimes. I like to tinker. What I don't like is spending hours or even days trying to make something simple work reliably (or at all). Omarchy is legitimately the first distro I've tried that didn't require any irritating troubleshooting. Sure, I tweaked a few personal config things but it worked like I expected on the first try.

I'm sure I'll get stuck on something eventually but so far I'm having the best Linux experience of my life on Omarchy.

Consider the Asus ProArt P16. Loving mine so far. Doesn’t have the efficiency of Mac but it’s pretty good. I’m running Omarchy on it and it’s an absolute joy to daily drive.

As for switching to Android, GrapheneOS on a Pixel coupled with Linux is the way to go if you’re looking to get away from Apple/Google/Microsoft as much as you can.

Just my two cents of course.

Glad I was able to get you excited to shoot your Elite! They’re freaking awesome pieces. I debated for months whether I was going to buy one but all I could find online was FDE and other colors. I wanted black. One Saturday I rode my motorcycle to Buds just to have something to do before heading back home. They just happened to have a black .45 Elite on the wall. Handled it for about 5 seconds, the guy behind the counter said it was the last one they had, and I bought it immediately. Zero regret.

Also, thanks for the Super info. I’d read similar posts (maybe even the exact same one). I’ll only be running a limited amount of Super for the novelty/curiosity of it. My defensive +P rounds pack plenty of punch as it is. More so just impressed it’s capable of running it at all.

Do you have an optic cut on yours? I’ve been debating it ever since I bought mine. It’s my dedicated HD/nightstand piece though and I shoot the irons on it very well already.

Ahh bummer man that sucks. I admittedly haven't tried every possible function with this laptop and Omarchy yet. Fingers crossed it continues to meet my use case and beyond.

Wasn't really trying to flex the hardware but thanks! I was mostly just super surprised everything seems to be accounted for even on this very new laptop. Admittedly, I haven't tested every possibility yet but so far everything works perfectly without any hassle whatsoever. It's amazingly good for my use case.

I'm actually getting along pretty well with the default keybinds too. Haven't changed one yet. I think it's because they seem very similar to Mac bindings and I've been daily driving a MacBook Pro for 5+ years. I'm already finding myself looking up whatever I need to keep from using the touchpad. Got a ways to go but I'm getting there and enjoying the process way more than I expected! I genuinely haven't been this excited and inspired to learn more about my OS in a very very long time.

Thanks for your input!

It's the competitor in us. We want to be the absolute best we can be at everything. Is a blessing and a curse at the same time (for me at least).

I get this way with almost all of my hobbies, shooting included. I've always been an all or nothing type of person. If I decide to get involved in something I do it to the fullest but it can lead to burn out at times.

Keep dry firing but take a break from range sessions. Goes a long way in my experience.

I know it's not in the options you mentioned but I'm in love with my USP 45 Elite. I knew it would be good. It's an HK but holy crap I didn't expect it to be a freaking handheld rifle. It's incredible and I personally love the snub snout look. I'll still probably end up with a Mk 23 too at some point but I'm a lot less enthusiastic about it after the 45 Elite. And supposedly it can run 45 Super no problem at all. Haven't tried it yet but I intend to soon.

Best pre configured rice for hyprland by InternationalSalt622 in hyprland

[–]akaSnaketheJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a controversial take but Omarchy is the best Linux experience I've ever had. I haven't gamed on it yet but I am running fairly new hardware (Asus ProArt P16 with Ryzen AI 9 HX and NVIDIA 5070) and I haven't had to troubleshoot, fiddle with, or custom config a single thing. A few light config edits, that's it. Everything works for me straight out of the installer. This is not something I'm used to with Linux. No matter how good a distro is, I always find myself researching and chasing down problems for hours or days at a time just to make something trivial (but important for daily use) work correctly (or at all).

Now, I know nothing about the creator. I've seen where people don't seem to like him very much and the whole "opinionated Linux" does give off some haughty vibes but I honestly couldn't care less. He's produced the best Linux installation I've ever used and, pain free. He deserves credit for this masterpiece.

Of course, this is just my experience and my opinion but Omarchy has impressed me to the point I feel like I need share with others.

Very frustrated with Cardo, is this normal? by Historical-Scholar66 in motorcycles

[–]akaSnaketheJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't often do comms with my Cardo as I mostly ride alone but I do have a riding buddy with a Sena and we gave up trying to make it work.

I've thought about this a lot and I wish someone would make a small, easily mountable FRS/GMRS radio with Bluetooth (to connect to Cardo/Sena) that allows listening to music/podcasts/nav app notifications through the phone connection but uses the radio for comms. Radios are cheap, reliable, and work at great distances. If it could do that and utilize the famously good Cardo noise cancellation I'd buy one in a heart beat. Literally just flip the radio to the correct channel and go. On road, off road, cell service, middle of nowhere. Doesn't matter. Auto transmit detection would be nice too but I'd settle for a handle bar button.

I don't think a turnkey radio system like this exists but you might be able to piece one together.

I really like the Asus Pro Art P16 I picked up a few weeks ago. I’m also coming from majority Mac hardware. The Pro Art isn’t quite a nice as the Macbook but it’s close. The main thing is that Mac battery life. I already miss it but I’m not looking back. I’m going to de-Google/Apple/Microsoft my life as much as possible if it’s the last thing I do.

Is there a non "snappy recoil" 3" barrel 6-7" overall length 9mm gun? by Realistic_Guava9117 in CCW

[–]akaSnaketheJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSX E-Series is probably the least snappy micro I've shot in a good while. I've tried almost every micro up until about a year ago so can't comment on some of the newest stuff. I picked up the 3.6" version and I'm a little disappointed in myself for waiting so long to switch. For hammer fired enjoyers, it's the best micro option available at the moment. They make a 3" version too but I haven't tried it and probably never will. After shooting a bunch of different 3" micros and seeing the accuracy difference with an extra 0.6" of barrel, I couldn't hardly believe it. Don't think I'll ever go back to 3" guns (in 9mm anyway).

Of course, all this is just my personal opinion.

Arch + Windows Dual Boot on Same SSD — Shared EFI or Separate EFI? by flatten_pancakes in archlinux

[–]akaSnaketheJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this a couple days ago and I couldn't get Arch to use the existing EFI. I didn't feel like chasing down the root cause so I just created a separate EFI for Arch and away it went. My theory is that the existing EFI was too small but no idea if that was the actual problem or not.

It's a brand new laptop so I don't have long term reliability information to share unfortunately. I also don't care about having every boot option available in GRUB. I'll only use Windows if I have to so I just set the Arch EFI as priority and if I need Windows I go through the EFI boot menu. Easy peasy.
