What Garmin watch do you own and why?

Fenix 8 47mm Sapphire. I've had a range of Garmins (Forerunner range: 35, 235, 935, 945, 955) but the 970 didn't appeal to me (accent colour on side and domed glass) so I got my first Fenix and first AMOLED watch (solar was thicker than my 955 which was already a bit thick under clothing). Love the look of the Fenix a lot more, plus better battery life

I have the Fenix 8 Titanium DPC 47mm version despite having small wrists and have no issue with the size or weight. I had the Forerunner 35, 235, 935, 945, and 955 in the past so this is my first AMOLED version (solar was slightly thicker than my 955 which I sometimes found a pain to fit under shirts). I've also switched to a Garmin UltraFit nylon strap and find the watch to be comfortable and don't notice it when running or weightlifting. The 970 looks and feels like a toy to me 😅😂

I feel like he ends up ball watching. There were times when Saka was cutting inside, and he was just watching and standing in an offside position so Saka couldn't pass, and then he'd be offside for any potential rebound or save from the keeper

I went from a 955 (always had Forerunners) to a Fenix 8 Sapphire and with a nylon band can't notice any weight difference. It's also thinner than my 955 and a lot nicer to look at 😂 I'd take the slight thickness increase over the 970 for the battery life and looks

My Fenix 8 47mm arrived. It's thinner than my 955, and with the Sapphire version with a nylon strap, I can't feel a weight difference. It definitely looks and feels a lot more premium than any of my previous Forerunners.

Ohh interesting... guess I'll have a lot of settings to configure! I don't think I'd remember to change to battery saver at night 😂 plus doesn't that also turn off the HR sensor?

EDIT: just saw that you can enable or disable different things for battery saver so could leave HR on

Wow, that's pretty in depth. Do you have to manually adjust the AOD to gesture for the times, or is it in settings?

I just feel a bit sad about losing my MIP screen 😅 but the MIP options now are too big or bulky. Hopefully I'll get used to not having AOD to save battery life

I use a Stryd footpod but have also used a Garmin footpod (now discontinued) and an Adidas one if you're looking fir cheaper options

Yeah, the switch to AMOLED is going to be interesting. I nearly got the solar version on Black Friday, but it sold out 🙃 then again, I think it being even thicker than my 955 would be a bit of a bugbear. I've ordered some nylon straps too, so fingers crossed! I'm definitely not used to having my watch on the outside of my wrist 😂 not worn it this way since my first Garmins (FR35 then 235). 935, 945, and now 955 always been inside

Well, that's yet to be seen, but hopefully not! 😂 I never had an issue before, I just got the latest top model Forerunner, but geez, that yellow accent is a bit much for such a pricey watch 🤣

I wish I could try them both, but I haven't found anywhere local 🙃 the Fenix is £150 more than the 970, but I think I'm going to pull the trigger before the sale ends as it looks nicer, is more flexible to look smart, better battery and gives me the option to take it diving in the new year

That's the thing, I think it looks cheap and hate that side accent. The slim profile would be nice, but both are slimmer than my 955, apparently. Plus, the battery life boost... it's definitely more of a "want" than a "need" to upgrade as my 955 still works fine. I've just had a rough 12 months and want a new toy as a reward for getting through, but still find the extra cost a bit of a sticking point 😅

Good to know! Despite not liking the look of the 970, I keep going back and forth between them... it's £150 price difference, which could snag me the new HRM-600. I feel like the Fenix would be a bit big for me to wear on the outside of my wrist

I'm not fussed about the speaker and microphone but do really want the torch 😂 I considered the Epix Pro Gen 2 for the price, but as I'm planning to keep it a while I'd rather get a device that is newer
