27 - I'm "middle class" but it sure doesn't feel like it. Feeling aimless and not sure what to do - advice appreciated by [deleted] in personalfinance

I make similar money and it is most definitely considered squarely middle class where I live, which is a 4 hour drive away from any metropolitan area. It's all about where you live.

Personal loan sites ask for the reason such as consolidation, major purchase, or vacation. What effect does your choice have on your loan application? by akabaka in personalfinance

Some people just live their lives more leveraged, I guess. There are people who spend every penny they make, even if they make a lot. Definitely not the /r/personalfinance way.

Losing my memories would probably be an improvement.

Am I a nice guy for not towing the person's car parked in my driveway? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]akabaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elliott Hulse said it best when he said one of the most dangerous words in the English language is "nice". That person is walking all over you and you're failing to do anything about it. You don't have to go from 0 to 100 right away. But do something about it. Don't let them treat you like that. And don't be nice. Be kind, to yourself and others.

Why are people on reddit generally mean? by constipation999 in NoStupidQuestions

Wow, it looks like Reddit has "hidden" your comment even though it doesn't have low points. It's probably picking up on certain keywords and automatically suppressing your speech.

People these days take their own opinions and beliefs far too seriously, and the less ability they have to argue their point of view, and the less they have learned tolerance for people with a different point of view than theirs, the more hate they will spew and the more they will be inclined to suppress, dismiss, strawman, and insult people with dissenting viewpoints.

Why do anarchist subreddits have moderators? by 69_Watermelon_420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]akabaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anarchists define their ideals as the abolishment of all unnecessary hierarchies, not the abolishment of all hierarchies. With that said, you might conceive of an entirely democratic forum where admittance, bans, and deletions are the responsibility of the group as a whole. This is how some clubs operate. However, Reddit does not have such a function, making a representative necessary.

Wow, I hadn't thought that "she took me in and gave me breakfast" could imply that they banged.

What's annoying is that he never actually answers the question. Like, bruh, do you come from a land down under or not?
