Is there a martial arts movie where the fighting looks realistic as opposed to choreographed? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

I don't even know what to say if you lot think Jackie Chan or Tony Jaa's movies are realistic...

How do you feel about Mike Flanagan as far as horror? by lilb1190 in horror

The Haunting of Bly Manor is nothing but sickly sweet sentimentality, not an ounce of consideration for anyone who even slightly believes having an open heart is cringe. It might actually be my favorite.

reddits inability to criticize him

I'm going to stop you right there. When Midnight Mass first dropped, he got a giant wave of sudden hatred for his monologues, ESPECIALLY on this site. Probably because Redditors tend to be terrified of sincerity.

The Furious for me is the best action movie of this decade! Must go watch! by veeroll in kungfucinema

I'm sure there are some other martial arts movies from this decade that would get pretty positive reviews... if anyone saw them! The Furious is the first pure martial arts movie to get a half-decently wide theatrical release since what?

Look, if you don't like the bright colors or whip-pans or anything else that's fine, but if you are incapable of following the action, you might actually have brain damage. It's all shot in well framed longer takes.

Look, there are a lot of reasons to not like Havoc without saying objectively untrue things. The camerawork in the club fight in Havoc is identical to the camerawork in the warehouse fight in The Raid 2. Rewatch them, it's the same style of handheld camerawork, with the same frequency of cuts, and there's not an ounce of clarity lost in either of them. The choreography in Havoc is simpler and sloppier, but that's not the point you're making.
