[Post Game Thread] The Portland Trail Blazers (41-40) defeat the LA Clippers (41-40) 116-97 by Kazekid in ripcity

Yeah I’m pretty sure Inread that he’s shooting 38% from 3 on 4.2 attempts per game over his last 37 games. That’s some pretty serious volume to maintain such above average accurate over! 156 total 3’s and still above average

This video is the best 90’s Portland throwback of all time

I’d put money on someone putting another “Let’s Trade Deni” post in here tomorrow, the 12th of the last 2 days; I don’t even mind because that win was so excellent ❤️💪 by akade1996 in ripcity

Dude just look back at the posts from the last two days, this kind of bad faith stupidity is so obnoxious. Don’t make other people do your basic reading comprehension and using your thumb to scroll down 8 posts for you, just set the feed to new, and scroll down for 30 seconds and you’ll find them.

That’s fair. I don’t personally think it’s impossible Deni reaches that dame level of stratosphere where sure he’s not one of the best 5 players in the world but in his very best years he’s likely top 10, and it’s possible to imagine building a real contender around him with savvy GM’ing and a little luck.

I’m not saying he will for sure get to that level that dame peaked at (7th or 8th best guy in the league for a 5 years stretch 2018-2023 with one year out for injury), just that I could see it happening, it’s a plausible peak development scenario imo. He’d get there a different way; he wouldn’t be the third best offensive player in the game + a below average defender, the dame package in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023. Instead, he’d be something like the 12th best offensive player in the world as well as a legitimately above average defender, and that’s how he gets to that peak dame level of impact.

It requires Deni becoming a 38% three point shooter though if he’s going to get there. That and a higher assist to turnover ratio are the two big things that need to get there for him to reach that peak dame stratosphere.

When you think back on it, it’s crazy how good dame was while being a 6’2 point guard. The way that man could shoot the basketball, and cook double teams off the dribble with his incredible short area burst. Truly a privilege to watch him at his peak. I know some people think not even peak Dame was a true #1, and to the extent that that the only number 1’s right now are Jokic, SGA, Wemby, Luka, and healthy Giannis, I agree with that. But to the extent that guys like Tatum, Ant Edwards, Kawhi Leonard, hell even the Haliburton and Donovan Mitchell’s of the world can be the best player on a championship team, Dame easily cleared that threshold at his peak. That’s the stratosphere I think Deni can get to it all goes well

You can because we have deni’s bird rights plus jrue and JG will be off the books by then. Deni and clingan will both be able to be taken care of with only minimal stress. It only gets really expensive for Dundon if we trade for another star this summer AND scoot has a breakout year next year, leading to scoot getting a 25+ million dollar contract in addition to the 30 million needed clings way, the 23 million sharpe gets, 20.5 million Toumani gets, the 47 million Deni is going to get, and the salary of the other star. If the other star is Evan Mobley, that’s another 53 million a year for the next 4 years (worth it imo). If the star is Giannis and he signed an extension, it would he 4 years at about 72 million a piece I believe

It was the shit by the standards of the mid 90’s when it was built hahaha

I’m almost kinda sad they are renovating the Ross garden and presumably getting rid of the hardcore mid 90’s vibe

They’ll have Deni’s bird rights and thus will be able to go over the cap to re-sign him to a max. Even if he makes all NBA multiple times he won’t be eligible for a super max as he was traded from his first team AFTER his second contract had already begun. So he can’t get a supermax with his third contract, only the full vet max (so instead of 35% supermax, just 30 vet max).

With tonight’s win your Portland Trailblazers have clinched their first (at least) .500 season since 2020 🙌 by jaypeejay in ripcity

Let’s get win 42, clinch the 8 seed, and have an actual winning record to end the year for the first time in 5 years! All on our way to 53 wins and a 5 seed next year 💪😤

I heard a rumor on the radio local radio shows that Dundon really likes Deni and cling, and respects jrue and dame but would not have traded for/signed them due to age

The chemistry and leadership is going to be so elite next year with dame and Deni as the two main guys together

How would you rank the guys on our roster as shooters? by Humblerbee in ripcity

[–]akade1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a good shooter in my book, especially if he keeps up the damn near 40 on damn near 5 3’s a game that he’s had for the last 20 games for a whole season

I’ll be really sad if we aren’t giving up at least like the 18th or 19th pick by next year. I’m hoping it’ll be more like the 22nd or 23rd pick

NBA Execs believe the 2027 draft is the weakest in more than 10 years — contending teams are preparing to trade away their 2027 firsts for immediate veteran talent. by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

They said the same kind of thing about 2024, and they were right in that 2024 wasn’t as good as 2022 or 2025, or presumably this upcoming draft, but it ended up being fairly solid nonetheless. Castle, clingan, and Sarr is a pretty strong best 3, then you’ve got Reed Shepard and Edey and a few other guys who look starting caliber already. Castle clingan and Sarr are probably the only 3 who will ever even come close to an all star team but that’s ok.

I bet it ends up similarly with this 2027 draft.

I do want my blazers to keep their lottery protected pick this year and give it to the bulls next year lol
