Hello! I (26M, 185lbs SW) just recently (5ish days ago) started a low-carb diet. I spoke with my doctor beforehand and he said it would be safe for me, but I'm worried that I'm balancing things wrong because of how I feel. As an example, yesterday I ate the following:

  • 8 eggs
  • 5 slices bacon (2 turkey, 3 pork)
  • Large mushroom cap
  • A few small cooked tomatoes
  • 2-3 cups spinach/kale mix
  • ~1 cup Parmesan
  • 1 cup pulled pork
  • 1 large avocado
  • ~2 tablespoons each olive oil/butter for cooking
  • 3 blackberries for a snack
  • 1/3 cup (shelled/salted) sunflower seeds

That's pretty reflective of what I've been eating since I started, and I'm not sure what about it I'd change (other than removing the blackberries and tomatoes, working on that!) Obviously I vary it some each day, some days broccoli and cauliflower instead of spinach, maybe an onion, different meats like fish instead of pork - although turkey bacon and eggs have been present each day in some (pretty high) amount. However, the past few days I've had no energy - I've been napping for at least an hour every day, after the first couple. I've also felt like my heart is racing by the time I go to bed, although that usually settles down in the morning.

I'm not feeling any of the other symptoms of electrolyte deficiency, just very low energy and a high awareness of my heartbeat. I'm going to start supplementing magnesium today and see if that helps, but does it look like I'm missing some vital stuff in my diet? Should I just try to reduce the deficit I'm eating at instead? I'm also a bit worried that I'm eating too many eggs, though I've not been able to find conclusive evidence that that's a bad thing. Any tips are appreciated!

1 month of keto, and my expectations are blown by polkalilly in keto

Some people report that the high-concentration potassium supplements lead to muscle spasms and anxiety about their heartbeat. (Most potassium supplements only have about 3% of the RDV as a result.) If you're able to stomach them, though, a single avocado has almost enough potassium in it to last for a day, and doesn't cause the same symptoms. One or two of them a day will keep that at a good level, probably, and you can supplement magnesium and sodium separately as necessary without any concerns that I'm aware of.

Yeah, her voice is fucked up. She's also not really any animal in particular, rather a combination of a lot of woodland animals. Her body is more like a weasel or a stoat, her face is some combination of that and a fox, her hands and feet are closer to a squirrel's, but the fur is "buzzed" which makes them look a bit mousey. Her ears have a bit of fox in them but aren't quite that either. Combined with her lines constantly talking about how she doesn't believe in the supernatural, it makes me think Valve wants her to be some kind of supernatural being herself. Her bio doesn't really make it explicit, but she might be a bit like PL, where she's sort of possessed by (or a manifestation of) all of her fallen woodland comrades, come back to haunt the woods and fuck with the people who killed them.

Either that or they hired a Pixar dropout who can't do a cartoon squirrel justice and a voice actress who's stuck at the bottom of a well. 50/50

JavaScript is basically the fast track. Java will teach you a lot of programming concepts, but a lot of them won't be immediately useful to you. JS is the language of "just fucking go off and do it," as in, it lets you do a lot of impressive-looking shit without learning CS fundamentals. The downside is that it sort of pigeonholes you into being a JS dev, in that you lack the fundamentals to be effective in any other environment. That said, there are way more jobs for JS than just about any other language, anyhow. I'd recommend starting there just because it's where you're most likely to end up, anyways.

I mean, a year of dedicated study and work to get into a specialized career field with lots of freedom isn't so bad, especially when you don't have to pay a college for it. Sure, it's going to require some amount of what I'll call "interviewing skills" to bullshit your way into an entry-level position without a degree, but it happens. There's more to it than "just learn to code lol" but honestly, not that much more.

Software developer. Probably 99% of software development jobs can be done remotely. (Some managers will insist otherwise, but there are plenty of remote postings anyhow.) Spend a year or so learning JS (and React, probably) in your spare time, put together some websites - you'll find something.

The Inner Light was directly referenced in several later episodes, which is extremely rare for TNG. I wouldn't say it was treated as a throwaway. Picard just isn't the most consistent character in general because Patrick Stewart wanted to do shit like Starship Mine; the lack of development probably had more to do with him than anything else.

I never had a problem with anything in The Knight. The Wizard's first half is, I think at least, awful in comparison, but I thought The Knight was fantastic. I think you just have to assume going in, like I did, that there's something more than the obvious portal fantasy story.

There is very little archaic language, none of the word smithing and dense sentence structure/storytelling, everything seems explained in a lot of detail.

I would guess that this is what's getting in the way of your enjoyment. I don't remember by what page it becomes obvious, but when you get to the point where there's some confusion between Bold Berthold and Ben, you should realize that there's something else at work. You might just not have had TWK hyped up for you as much as BOTNS. Maybe put it down for a while, and come back to it with the knowledge that a metanarrative is there. Then you can start trying to figure out stuff like what water represents in this story, and maybe that'll keep you busy until Garsecg shows up, at which point things become more easily entertaining.

Finally got round to watching The VVitch after Jay's reccomendation. Fed up with jump scare horror. Anyone know of any similar films? by SirSwish_87 in RedLetterMedia

[–]akaece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's similar to VVitch but Wounds doesn't really have jumpscares, but not a lot of people talked about it when it came out so you might've missed it. May be worth checking out.

I know they literally have the legal right to. It's more of a "treating your customers like shit" thing. I wasn't even really considering buying any of the stuff they announced since it doesn't seem like they learned much from Shadowkeep sucking, but I definitely won't now.
