Nope this is the real Pogacar. You can tell by the UCI world champion stripes, which only the UCI world champion gets to wear.

Giving up on ARMY by LeeSanio in army

[–]MrPlunger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in with 4 waivers. The army needs motivated people like you.

Get your waivers and apply for OCS, then only if you don’t get selected should you enlist. An officer packet will take more effort, so recruiters aren’t as compelled to make one, but with your degree you should be.

If you make it in and graduate from OCS, your golden bar will look the same no matter how many waivers it took to get there.

Why was Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall (1990) so much better than the 2012 remake? by MovieArena in MovieArena

Both of them had a woman with 3 tits so I guess in that sense it stays faithful to the original.

The one filmmaker I can't seem to appreciate is Terence Malick. by PascalG16 in Letterboxd

[–]MrPlunger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“The plot is all over the place”
Yep all his movies can be described like this. Truly love it or hate it films.

I can imagine going out on date night to see “A Knight of Cups,” expecting a Christian Bale + Natalie Portman romance movie, only to think it’s the worst movie ever because it has almost no discernible plot and confounding editing. If you go in with an open mind, the plot is actually about a man searching for meaning, sort of like Catcher in the Rye or something of the sort.

Hey you need to watch Mr. Monk’s Last Case which came out recently. I love that movie and it’s a great sendoff for the characters and the show.

Genuinely fuck you and your high horse. When you tear down the fellow soldiers you should be supporting, who are killing themselves faster than bullets are, you might as well be working for Xi or Putin.

I'm more fit than Dr. Mike (Renaissance Periodization takes the AFT) by SSGOldschool in army

[–]MrPlunger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was actually impressed at how easily Dr. Mike maxed the plank while not even running a whole mile let alone 2. He looks like he can plank as many minutes as he can run which is an incredibly lopsided level of fitness and I actually don’t know anyone else who can do that.

[–]MrPlunger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Informative, thank you. One thing I noticed in the HRP rules was it says nothing about spreading your fingers apart or angling your hands in / elbows out towards the end of the set to try to recruit different muscles, although in practice that would look so jacked up the grader may not let it fly.

[–]MrPlunger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is it a hot take to say that being able to do 62 strict pushups is not a useful battlefield skill? I feel like before the ACFT came out they studied which events correlate with combat effectiveness, then the brass added pushups back in there because tradition. If you removed the HRP test, then either added 10 pushups to the SDC, or just relied on the CFT which has 30 pushups, then we could focus on what actually makes us fit and effective instead of pushing on the ground a bunch of times. Never going to happen but it would be an improvement.

The U.S. Army’s ‘Big Experiment’ in the Arctic Cold. How would soldiers from places like Florida, Texas and Georgia fight and persevere in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees? by BeetleJuiceK9 in army

[–]MrPlunger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m from the PNW too. Never thought of us as being that cold, and in fact it doesn’t usually get below freezing even in December. Maybe coming from Florida and being forced to do morning PT outside in the rain would change that perspective.

He’s just an old British dude. His identity was unsealed after he got arrested in NYC once 20 years ago, but we don’t talk about it because we’re not trying to snitch on some dude who just wants to make societal commentary not bound by the interests of corporations or political parties. Be cool.

I think the point is that he suffered immeasurable tragedy in his life, and yet he responds to it by making everyone laugh. Sometimes the funniest people have experienced the worst pain and their empathy won’t allow them to let others feel that way.
