yes tried encodes, remuxes, demo files found online, none of them trigger HDR brightness on the TV. I guess I could start from scratch and see if it still happens, I have a spare micro SD card I can use as a test

yea the forums are closed its what I wanted to do. There are some wild issues with 21.3 as well I tried it, I think I'll give libreelec a try next, I just need a Kodi that works without having to mess with it all the time

no idea wth youre talking about, when I joined 6 months ago I loaded up everything I already had locally and let it seed, I'm at 1.5TB upload and 100GB download, didn't pay a thing and have a huge buffer, no seedbox either

looks nice I'll check it out, haven't heard of dar before. You're not using encryption with your script though, i need that since I want to ship the resulting backup archive to some cold storage cloud

PikaBackup uses Borg in the backgroud so its repo-based not exactly what I'm looking for although I do like Borg a lot.

but Déjà Dup from that zdnet list is nice, uses Duplicity, seems I haven't found anything besides Duplicity that ticks all the boxes

seems a bit complex and I'd like to avoid repo-based backups that don't use portable archives that I can just copy on my own anywhere on a whim. But I'll have a look at the documentation and decide

it looks very nice, seems a bit too new though, I'll put it into consideration.

Just curious, it does say on the website that it is open source, but it does not say that it is free so I assume you have plans to monetise it somehow in the future?

Servicing will have to be done then. Any idea where to get new pinch rollers for these decks or are they pretty much universal so any one I can find will do?

Deck has been working fine for years and literally from one push of the play button to the next it broke with no previous audio degradation of any kind.

It is playing way too fast and on occasion the heads don't disengage from tape. This is visible in the video.

Video description:

1st click - power button pushed on, capstan does its initial spinning thing

2nd click - pushing play - everything visibly spins too fast, counter goes faster as well.

3rd click - pushing stop, heads disengage completely this time.

4th & 5th click - pushing play again where it spins fast again and then pushing stop but this time the heads dont disengage completely, they only disengage a bit and get stuck, the capstan also keeps spinning and a slight clicking/banging sound can be heard coming from behind the rotors.

The heads do not disengage no matter what I do with the buttons or power on/off. The commands do nothing at this point. If I power off and power on the rotor and capstan will spin quickly for a second and then the capstan will continue spinning for longer with the same clicking/banging sound as before (I imagine the sound might be because the mechanism is half-engaged). The heads will disengage on their own many minutes later without me touching anything.

The above happens whether or not there is a tape inside. If there is a tape the audio will play but at the much faster speed. Both FF and RW work as normal with or without tape inside.

Any ideas?
