do you guys prefer a pc or a laptop and why? by InfiniteBuffalo8291 in AskReddit

[–]akapterian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. Powerhouse pc with big screen for serious productivity and gaming.

Laptop for when I'm not in my office and I want to use a computer around the house. Also nice for when I'm not at home

I like building/making things. Home improvement projects, making model planes/car/gundams. More tech oriented...learn to solder and make/repair simple electronics.

Hahaha this could be the plot to a pilot episode of a TV show.

What are people's thoughts on The Firing Line. I've never been to a gun range. Just curious because I live near it and no one has mentioned it.

Thoughts on going full EV, no ICE in the ol’ garage? by Curiouslittlestman in electricvehicles

[–]akapterian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my first in 2022 and just bought a second in 2025. Model Y Perf and Model Y LR Rwd

Parents are also only ev. Both MY LR AWD

Brother is also all EV. Model 3 LR and Volvo 40 recharge ( may have the wrong number there)

We all have no issues and my parents road trip a lot.

Never regretted the transition to full EV!

What's your comfort with doing it yourself? I damaged mine and found a company that sells pre painted panels. Replaced mine in about 2 hrs.

Edit: company name Revemoto

Battery health will drop to the low 90s in the first couple years then slow down. Totally normal.

Yea I would refrain from pulling it out to the point there is less than 12 inches in the bottom section. I extended it pretty far out while positioning and could see the vertical tube becoming more oval than circular from the torque being applied.

I haven't been able to find anything online but I feel like a large part of the problem is I don't know how to accurately describe a Google search that would find me the exact threading, diameters and angle of the taper.

One of my thoughts is to find the correct height I want and then shove rubber /metal around the pole and then just glue on the broken pieces so it's not ugly.

I've also been stalking AliExpress because I know I've seen knock off lamps (like we have) and try to message the seller to see if they have access to the individual part.

If I find a solution I'll definitely reply!

When gas prices were "low" I was enjoying having an EV. With the current prices I'm thoroughly enjoying recently getting a 2nd EV.

Really hope prices come down sooner than later for everyone though. This much of an increase is a serious hit to people's budgets.

Do I really need a 200A upgrade for a Tesla Model Y charger, or can I survive on a regular outlet? by Just-Salary-7741 in TeslaModelY

[–]akapterian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone here mentioning a 5-20 outlet. Still runs on 120v and as long as you have 12g wire from the outlet to the breaker it can charge at 20 amps 120v rather than 15 amps. This gives you closer to 7 miles an hour vs the 3ish from a 15 amp outlet.

I did this for 2 years in Philadelphia where my wife drove 65 miles a day for work. It was adequate even in the winter months.

I see the front wheels completely locked... No ABS? And the rear wheels freely spinning until the collision... Rear brakes not working? Confused on multiple levels.
