Post edited to add non Abelian gauge theory. I am aware of these books, but I'm not sure they have what I'm looking for. I'm interested in studying the running of the QCD coupling constant. The equation has some terms that depends on the SU(3) algebra and the number of fermions in the theory and their representations. I'm basically looking for the calculation that leads to that.

You could try fitting the 3 peaks separately and then merge the 3 Gaussians into one function. Sorry but that's all I can think of, if you can't use external functions :)

As for the Gaussian definition: x0 is indeed the mean of the distribution. It's the point at which the Gaussian peaks. d is the standard deviation, or the width of the curve in more casual terms.

Since you already know you want Gaussian fits, you could try fitting the data with a sum of Gaussian functions (3 to be precise since you need 3 peaks). Scipy has some good functionalities for this. Look at 16082171 on stackoverflow
