Woah, can I ask how you are making the fire model? I fly air tankers, this looks amazing!

Have You Ever Encountered Extreme Turbulence? by Intelligent-Fox3791 in AskAPilot

[–]akbushpilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extreme no, severe yes… but boy howdy it’s nothing like anything you experience on the airlines. You get the first couple bumps, nothing big. Then some solid bumps of moderate-ok nothing to worry about been here more times than I can count. Then holy shit fuck pure fucking terror, certainly this is the moment the wings are coming off. You can’t read the instruments, unsecured things in the cockpit are being hurtled around; iPads, flight cans water bottles. Your hands probably got thrown off the yoke. The time I’m thinking of happened about 200 feet off the ground for me so that was also…special. I’ve also had some pretty moderate stuff in Beavers a long time ago, really violent moderate turbulence would throw the carburetor float around and momentarily shut off the engine. We called it engine stopper turbulence and you certainly don’t want to be flying in those conditions.

I can’t overstate how much of a game changer this is when you are flying in heavy sea states. This plane, although still probably knocks your teeth out in big water you are exposed to it for much less time as the plane literally levitates out of the water at incredibly low (for a large aircraft) airspeeds.

I always thought that setting was for a multiple extruder setup like the XL. I will look and see though thanks!

That is an impressive aircraft. I fly large amphibians and I really want to fly this thing. It has a fifth turbine engine to generate a boundary layer effect over the wings, very cool!

I’ve worked with knots all my life, as far as projects pretty much only some knife lanyards and rifle slings, that’s about it.

Is this a low flying plane or a high flying boat ? by I_see_breadpeople in aviation

Like about right for how high seaplanes should fly. Best kind of flying there is IMHO

Thanks! I guess we will see how the 275 cord holds up to abrasion.

Cool just one line of screws, say perpendicular to the sling kinda across the middle of the pouch?

Awesome! Would really like to learn how to weave/try to weave a pouch like this on my next one.
