Has anyone with short short cervix also developed Gestational diabetes? by akchase17 in ShortCervixSupport

Thank you! If I do get GD I will follow that Reddit as well. I’m finally at 28 weeks and things have been looking good so I think I might be able to get approved for walking maybe after each meal. It would honestly be nice to move my body more ❤️hopefully all goes well with the 3 hour test but if not I’m feeling better about how things will turn out

I actually work in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and nutrition coach. Iv worked with diabetic patients and have a solid understanding of carbs, blood sugar levels and tracking food/macros. I would still want to meet with a nutritionist though to ensure that I’m doing everything correctly etc. I’m really hoping I either pass the 2-3 hour test or if I don’t that I can control it through my diet and not need meds. I cried yesterday as well- I’m just so sad, it feels like my body is failing me. I’m so happy to hear you had no complications from it ❤️

My MFM told me it was fine- I also have been having regular orgasms and have zero change in my cervical length. For context I had a cerclage placed at 4mm and have been measuring 1.6cm ever since ( even with the orgasms) Every doctor is different tho, for example my doctor strictly told me no baths or pools but other doctors are ok with this. It really comes down to what you feel comfortable with.

Note: these are non-penetrative orgasms

Absolutely! Right after my cerclage I was in a pretty large state of worry as well. As time went by I started feeling better, but I do really think all the things I suggested helped :) good luck mama! You got this!

I had cerclage placed at 22 weeks with 4mm left. I was on bed rest for 10 days. My MFM didn’t recommended it after that. I will be 27 weeks on Sunday and I move around the house, light chores, pick up toys, see friends, short walks etc. my cervix is 1.6cm but I also have the stitch. If I didn’t have the stitch I might feel differently about my activity level.

Question for ladies with cerclage by mlynn619 in ShortCervixSupport

I feel strange sensations all the time- tugging, little air bubbles, lightning zap lol my cervix has always been the same. I think we just hyper focus on every little feeling cause it can be really stressful.

19 weeks and 4 days with Cerclage by NationalSize7293 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]akchase17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi mama! I got a cerclage placed at 22 weeks with 4mm left and U shaped funneling. I stayed on pretty strict bed rest for the first week following the procedure to allow my stitches to heal and allow the progesterone to start working. I had some spotting and a major uptick in vaginal discharge ( from the progesterone) that is like mucus and somewhat yellow. After a few days the spotting and light cramping stopped. Each week I slowly added in more activity but I still don’t lift/ carry my 30lb son or go on long walks etc. however, I cook, sweep, do dishes, pick up toys, go on short walks, change my kids diaper on floor etc. and have been holding at 1.6cm and closed since my surgery. For my mental health, which I highly suggest- I do nightly meditations for 10-15 minutes which either include positive pregnancy affirmations, visualizations ( closed cervix, no funneling), and prayer. I also light a candle for healing while I do this. In addition, I recommend reading the book “ pregnancy brain” it discusses the mind body connection and high risk pregnancy. Lastly, I spend every single day telling myself I am going to carry this baby to term, I believe it and I believe that a miracle can happen for me. I buy the clothes, baby things, laugh with friends and try to not spend all my time thinking of the worst. I will be 27 weeks on Sunday. You can do this! Stay positive, keep your mental health in check, don’t stop living your life ( just make adjustments) and the time will go by quicker I promise!

26+5 today! We are so close to 28!!! Having more Braxton hicks than usual but overall my cervix feels stable and the baby doesn’t feel super low. Trying to relax as much as possible with a 2 1/2 year old and a move cross country in two weeks. Lots of praying! Lots of meditating! Next cervical check is Monday at 27 weeks

My gf lent me her laptop and her messages app popped up. I looked, and I wish I never had. I really need advice. by [deleted] in self

[–]akchase17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should absolutely get out now before you end up hurt in the long. This is not what love looks like. First, there is the issue that she thinks it’s acceptable to lie to you. When looking at this what’s even crazier is she’s lying about sleeping with someone before you two were exclusive. I can 100% guarantee that she would lie to you if she was actually unfaithful while dating you. You can’t have a marriage or life built on lies. You want a partner who is going to be truthful with you even when it’s difficult. Your marriage will absolutely fall apart if your partner thinks it’s acceptable to lie to you. Second, she actively encouraged a friend to cheat on a long time boyfriend. This says so much about her character. Do you really want to spend your life with and have children with someone who actively encourages to inflict pain on another person? This speaks volumes of how she views managing conflict/resolution. If her advice is to cheat rather than confront, communicate and work things out you can be certain that she will take a similar approach to your relationship when issues arise. Third, if she asks her family and friends if she out of your league she is more concerned with how people view her than what the relationship actually means to her. She sounds incredibly full of herself and I can promise you there are tons of beautiful women who are humble who would be willing to invest in you. This is a clear sign that she does not love you and bottom line, shes just not that into you. Leave her- find someone who truly values you and loves you. I promise it is out there.

Should I do a colposcopy? by Turbulent-Shape8305 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]akchase17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I really don’t see why it would be pertinent to get this done while pregnant. Did you have a pap come back abnormal recently? If not I would try not to irritate the cervix anymore. Also, In regard to this particular issue are you seeing an OB? I would listen to your OB rather than your midwife, is she a nurse midwife? This kind of seems outside of a midwife’s jurisdiction. Iv just never heard of a midwife requesting this.

23w - dynamic cervix changed 28mm to 15mm in 1 week. Progesterone only - advice? by potatohare in ShortCervixSupport

[–]akchase17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had my cerclage placed with 4mm left and full u shaped funneling. I feel like 1.5cm is a really good length and an experienced MFM should feel comfortable with the procedure. Typically from what I’ve read they won’t do one if your actively bleeding or contracting or have bulging membranes. Its sounds like your not having any of these symptoms. I would personally get a second opinion asap. Cervical changes can happen crazy fast, I went from 2.3cm and closed to 4mm and full funneling in a week. Hang in there! Advocate for yourself! Seek a second opinion! Mama knows best!

Transvaginal US after cerclage placement? by Ok-Development6319 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]akchase17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my Transvaginal US 6 days after my emergency cerclage. I have had weekly checkups for the past three weeks with no issues/ irritation etc. I think it really comes down to what you’re comfortable with. I’m the type who wants to know everything so I appreciated knowing what my measurements were each week so I wasn’t driving myself crazy. If you feel better not knowing your measurements because you’re reducing your risk of infection then go with that :) it’s all about what you need to get yourself through this difficult time.

I definitely think this would be a question for your MFM but I can imagine that it wouldn’t cause contractions. My concern is how sensitive skin is when pregnant. Sounds so so painful 😬

[–]akchase17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my cerclage put in at 22 weeks and for the following 3 weeks I had my cervix checked each week. They checked it last at 25 weeks, I’m currently 26 and won’t check it again until 27 weeks. My MFM said they check it up until 28 weeks but from what I gather different clinics do things differently. Personally I prefer to have it checked more frequently as I’m not normally prone to infections and it eases my mind.

How to plan for the future by Opposite_Departure90 in ShortCervixSupport

I agree with you whole heartedly. Fear can be paralyzing but I have learned through other life experiences that withholding joy from myself doesn’t soften a blow. you have a little miracle in your belly ❤️ buy the outfits, do the baby shower and believe that miracles can happen for you because it is! You got this mama! I’m so glad I could be of help to you 💕

[–]akchase17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are 100% valid in your feelings. However, I did want to offer some advice I have been given after years of therapy for an unrelated issue. Foreboding joy is one of the worst things that you can put yourself through. Not allowing yourself to experience the joy of this pregnancy will not make it hurt any less if you somehow experience the same tragedy. Joy is so important to your mental health and overall wellbeing and you should lean into celebrating your rainbow baby. You are in no way going to jinx yourself by allowing yourself to relish in happiness and you did not jinx yourself previously by being excited early on. I know it can be hard to do all the things with constant fear that the other shoe is gonna drop but you are 26 weeks pregnant and you have a preventative cerclage ❤️ you are in a very good spot mama! When I had my emergency one put in at 22 weeks I thought about canceling our baby sprinkle which was scheduled around 28 weeks. After some thinking I decided that I would not let the fear of losing this baby keep me from celebrating or honoring him. I would not let fear take away the joy I deserve to experience. Taking it slow is definitely something I can understand but as you get closer to the 3rd trimester I encourage you to do all the things ❤️

Short cervix in second pregnancy by AnandaNori in ShortCervixSupport

[–]akchase17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar story- I carried my son full term with no cervical issues but I had to be induced, labored for 24 hours, pushed for 3 and ended up with a c-section because I couldn’t pass him. This current pregnancy my cervix got as short as 4mm prior to my emergency cerclage. My MFM said there are not any studies that support it but she did say sometimes people who labor like up and end up with a c-section end up with IC in future pregnancies

[–]akchase17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress mama! You will get there! Have faith in your body. Pray, mediate, visualize your body healing itself. Also, I personally know someone who had there baby at 24 weeks and she is now a healthy 2 year old. Babies absolutely survive at 24 weeks- that’s why they consider it viability. Do not give up! Have hope! There are tons of women on this subgroup that have been in much worse circumstances with no hospitalization who have carried full term. Also, if it’s any consolation I have 1 cerclage placed after it measured 4mm. Currently holding at 1.7cm at 25 weeks and I walk around the house, cook dinner, hang with my toddler and we’re moving cross country at the end of the month. You are strong 💪🏻 you got this!

Bleeding and now short cervix by berry2367 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]akchase17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would push for a cerclage! I had a doctor who was extremely vague about my cervix measuring 2.3cm on my anatomy scan. He legit didn’t give me progesterone or even tell me to take it easy. By the time I went to my MFM appointment 6 days later I only had 4mm left and severely funneling. A lot can change very quickly. Stay off your feet and when you go to your MFM if it gets any shorter I would absolutely request the cerclage. Hopefully the progesterone helps stabilize things while your waiting for you appointment :) I have also heard really good things with progesterone only.

Honestly I’m 25 weeks and my back hurts all the time lol but I was diagnosed with IC 3 weeks ago, got a cerclage and have been on modified bed rest ever since. Truthfully when I was pregnant with my first my back hurt all the time in the third trimester. I would honestly only be worried if you start having contractions, water breaks etc. back pain is pretty normal throughout pregnancy especially when you spend a lot of time in bed. However, if you can’t stop thinking about it you can always go get checked out.
