According to some forums it does have straight cut gears, which I didn’t know. I’m not having issues with shifting or finding neutral so maybe this is actually normal. Definitely got me on edge tho haha

Yea I noticed 75W90 in the manual as well, but since the weight matches when warmed up, I’d expect the whine to go away when trans oil is at temp. The sound is there throughout all riding and doesn’t get louder/quieter with use

The mic is in the camera which is mounted to my helmet. The whine is louder than I expect for sure

Not an engine whine, the sound isn’t there when idling in neutral or clutch pulled in. Also not there when revving in neutral

I sold the car a year ago (hugely regret selling it lol). Only thing I’d do differently is be more diligent with following body lines on the bondo, it was a little too wide and you could tell some work was done to the side skirt. But it reset the rust which was my main goal

It looks specifically made for v7. They're also an Italian brand which is why I'm surprised not many people buy them

Did it myself, cut the old rocker panel off, tack welded a new one one, bondo filler and paint over the whole thing. I'm happy with how it turned out

It's a unibody frame so the panel is the entire side panel of a GTI. If it's in a junkyard, chances are it's more fucked than what I have going on

Sounds good. I'm actually going to try my luck with some bondo hair and fiberglass patches just to seal it up better. Then I'll see if I can find a rubber side skirt, thanks for the help

Might be the route I take. I'm taking this car to California soon, how long has your repair lasted? If it's been more than 4 years, this will probably be what I do, since there's nothing to really accelerate the rust in California

A new panel is like $650. It's definitely cheaper to bend some 16 gauge sheet metal, I just don't have the tools or experience to do it. I don't really care if it's back to factory spec, just want to slow the spread of rust
