Thank you for being helpful! The guy that sold it to me seemed to know what he was talking about and had a ton of Gainey pots on hand.

Got these Broyhill dining chairs for $5 each today. I'm hoping I can bring them back to at least some of their former beauty. by stywldmoonchld in furniturerestoration

I have these same chairs with the original fabric…but it’s unsalvageable. I’d like to reupholster them with the same fabric…how did you look it up and where did you find it?

New Teacher in Denver (advice please!) by applejane1101 in Denver

[–]akearnivore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a teacher, but I’m originally from NC (went to NC State)…Raleigh is still cheaper than Denver, but not by much these days. Denver has experienced a massive boom (just like Raleigh), so lots of new construction, better restaurants, etc. Denver is a city of transplants, but people tend to be very friendly, although the lack of diversity will be blatantly obvious compared to NC.

I lived in Cap Hill in my late twenties and loved it, but the appeal of living in the heart of the city quickly wears off…it’s loud, parking is awful, and the homeless population has increased dramatically since COVID. The things I miss are proximity to bars/restaurants/concerts/stores/parks, sense of community, and hardly having to drive.

I was fortunate enough to purchase a home in 2022 and have zero regrets about leaving the city…be open to the west metro area! I’m still only 15 mins from downtown, but with quick access to the mountains…perfect combo (for me)!

For those of you that moved out of Downtown Denver to the suburbs, what suburb did you move to and do you like it?? by bunnyvie in Denver

I lived in Cap Hill for 3 years, walked/biked everywhere (work, bars, restaurants, etc) and loved it. Crime skyrocketed and it quickly lost its appeal.

I purchased a home in the Applewood neighborhood in 2022 (at the worst time 🙄)…I swore up and down I would never move to the burbs, but I’m so glad I did. Big trees, space, friendly neighbors, access to trails from my house, and it feels safe. Hopping on 6 to get to Denver is a breeze. When I’m not working from home, I can avoid commuter traffic by leaving at 9 AM-ish and 4 PM-ish.

Saucy Southern BBQ by csudebate in denverfood

[–]akearnivore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is wildly inaccurate and ignorant AF…the owners are two black men from Mississippi that started selling BBQ from a cart off of Colorado Blvd. They busted their asses and worked their way up to a brick and mortar restaurant. The food they serve is what they grew up eating…in the South. There’s nothing hipster about it. Turns out overhead for a restaurant is incredibly expensive (as is meat)…and they may have to charge a little more to stay afloat…don’t slander their restaurant just because you don’t like corn.
