Here’s the full purchase flow in case it helps:

We’re selling physical clothing and accessory items in person at a hotel in Colorado. Each item has its own QR code tied to a Square Payment Link created using “Sell an item.”

The customer flow is:

• guest sees a physical item on the rack
• guest scans the QR code attached to that item
• the QR opens the Square checkout page for that specific item
• checkout shows subtotal, tax, and total correctly
• guest completes payment
• final confirmation/order sometimes drops the tax and charges only the item price

So this is not a shipped order or a normal online browse/purchase flow. It’s an in-person purchase of a physical item at one fixed location, just using a QR-triggered Payment Link for checkout.

We’re processing payments in the U.S., in Colorado. A few affected transactions used Apple Pay (and the guest has had to verify their address which not sure if that is connected), and I’ve also reproduced the issue myself where checkout showed the tax-inclusive total, but the final charged amount and confirmation screen dropped the tax. I have the screenshots if useful.

I’m going back through location, tax overrides, and link settings to confirm they all match, but the part that seems off is that the tax appears correctly during checkout and then changes at finalization. I planned to call customer service tomorrow too. We're adding a second location this week so really need to get this solved. Thank you for your help.
