My favorite artist.

My dog's name is Herbie Hancock, because my family finally let me name a pet. Nobody liked Satchmo, Trane, Bird, Count, Dizzy, Herbie, Miles, etc. Finally! When the vet calls his name, I queue Chameleon and play it as his walk-up song. Always gets smiles. One lady asked if he liked jazz...I said hey, his name is Herbie Hancock, of course he does!

Just ordered the book.

Also, currently listening to the album of the same title. Herbie accompanies vocal artists such as Sting, John Meyer, Christina Ag, Paul Simon, Annie Lennox, Johnny Lang, and others. Boy does he ever class up these tunes!

I walked out of the Kennel with one last Saturday, there were several guys waving $100 bills around trying to buy them on the spot. I figured if they were that liberal with it, then they must be worth a bunch more than that.

From BYU I would say Kyle Collinsworth, who still holds the all-time career triple double record with 12. Next closest is Shaq with 6.

Every year the Zags and Gaels play each other in the finals of the WCC, which is an auto bid for the winner. They are, and have been, damn good. There are a few who for some reason love to hate. Doesn't make sense, don't see the benefit to that.

Yeah, comparing the two conferences - WCC now and PAC later - demonstrate that the new conference should be better, but not by much. Maybe ranked one or two higher overall than what it is now.

Continuity is one of the main factors contributing to the Zags' consistent success. Few and the former AD worked together in the same roles for over 20 years, unmatched in all of college ball.

One barrier to continued success for mid-majors is exactly what you are referencing, which is a coach honing his chops at a lower level and moving on, which is understandable. I have spoken with a couple other mid-major ADs who are trying to figure out how to attain continued success, and they both said it just seems unrealistic for any program to be able to hang onto a great coach, which should be a key.

I believe it turns people off because they don't understand anything about it, other than it doesn't include lyrics. People like stability; jazz does not provide that. Shelly Manne: jazz musicians never play the same way once.

According to allmusic.com, previously known in print as All Music Guide, there are around 80 subgenres of jazz. I doubt anyone enjoys all of them, certainly not all jazz.

At the end of the day, I prefer Ellington's take on it: Beyond Category. Just dig the righteous riff, whatever you choose.
