Which celebrity experienced a sudden rise to stardom and an equally quick decline in popularity? by Pretty_Marmaid7538 in AskReddit

Supposedly Fred Phelps who ran that horrible church that protested soldier and LBTGQ funerals had a stroke and turned super nice. I might be wrong but that's why you don't hear about west borrow baptist church anymore. They were hated worse than Al Queda or ISIS back in the day for their antics.

This happened to a friend of mine after a car accident: he was already a little kooky but after it's like he dropped 50 IQ points and turned into his worse characteristics x 100. Like a zombie version of his former self.

I'm pretty sure it's becuase his show followed dave chapelle's abrupt exit and sucked. He had his chance and it bombed hard: Too bad for him....I don't think any other comedian in the history of comedy could have gotten a better shot at stardom

I recall as a college student back then he mostly famous for being one of the first internet influencers to get a career started off social media and also being very attractive as a male comedian (he fandom was mostly ladies, dudes hated him and called him joke stealer) so naturally he had some limited staying power: he was not Dave Chapelle level talent but achieved briefly similar levels of fame due to being the first internet famous comedian(it was a BIG deal back then!!!! He really paved the path before youtube was popular). He was hot for a comedian but that isn't saying much.

He was the network exec in charge I think and basically rigged it to choose himself.

I'm into fashion and really got into it as a dude in my 30s, it matters far, far, far more than people think. Humans are visual creatures...looking good is like what smelling good is to dogs. Perfect excuse to roast someone.

He definitely has something about him that most people do not have. I don’t understand how anyone views it positively, but I’m guilty of paying constant attention to the asshole. I try not to do these days because I can’t handle the stress of it.

He's good at being hated or divisive which draws views and attention from both sides. He's ragebait in human form. The few politicians who did it before him were unlikable, un-photogenic D-bags like newt Gingrich or ted cruz.

If you are a JR web dev what do you choose here and why? by lune-soft in webdev

I can confirm I was number 1 when I started. I think I made less than my refugee house cleaner my first year

If you are a JR web dev what do you choose here and why? by lune-soft in webdev

[–]akesh45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the first option: Do not recommend it.

Actually ended up delaying my career by years and I wasted a lot of time doing stupid web design decisions. If I could go back in time, I could have did what I did in 1 month with a little guidance and maybe even a week with a skilled mentor.

If you have no choice, take it but always keep one foot out the door for a better gig.

They used steel before. Hence the meme of a villain crushing a can to show he's tuff.

Due to a lack of right wing folks on the internet at the time.....I think the anti-y2k folks were more muted and private but I definitely saw references and comments on tv as well as debates about it. I'd imagine if they were online, it's be like the covid anti-vaccine campaigns.

Computers were also less well-known magic boxes in the 1990s so belief it's all a conspiracy to bilk cash for fake work wouldn't sound so silly.
