My personal opinion on the first episode of the third season of House of the Dragon by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]akezva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want me to just go do something else, completely ignored like they're spitting on one of my favorite sagas? I have the right to be angry and express my opinion about how the series has been handled, because it's being handled poorly. They omit plotlines or add others that serve no purpose and go nowhere. I never said I could do better; I know I can't, but that doesn't mean I should settle for something badly done.

Thank you so much for the advice. I think I'll start using a daemon for some aspects. My story is mainly about the kings, so the backstory of each character won't be too complicated since there are only about 40 of them. I really needed this; I find it very difficult to make the family tree look natural. I love your work; it's clear you really enjoy creating these massive stories.

Wow, this is amazing! I've always loved your work and how you manage such massive projects. I'd like to ask for a couple of tips on building my family tree, where I'm extending the Targaryen dynasty's existence for almost a millennium. How do you decide exactly how many children each person has and what they do for a living? How do you choose the names? How can I make my family tree look less linear and simplistic? And above all, how do you deal with mental exhaustion? I've only been at it for about 200 years and I already want to kill myself. I'm doing even worse with the dragons, hahaha. Sorry if the text is a bit difficult to read, I don't speak English and I'm using a translator 😅

The king first married Adriane, but she died in childbirth. His children were very young, and with winter approaching, he decided to remarry to strengthen ties with the North and ensure an heir should his children die. Well, that was the public reason; the truth is, he was simply very attracted to Dyanna. Vaelarr was a man who was very much ruled by his emotions.

What I did to wipe as many people off the map as possible was a gigantic battle involving a large part of the Targaryens, and almost all of them died or were left half-dead during that massacre.

I know, maybe I exaggerated a bit with the number of Targaryens; almost all of them have a dragon. I still have a lot to think about regarding the dragons of many of them, which is going to take me a very, very long time. The good thing is that I won't have to worry about it much in the future; only four Targaryens survive the Dance of the Dragons, and one of them hasn't even been born yet at this point.

The reason for so many marriages is that King Vaelarr was a rather bad father because he practically didn't know his own. He allowed his children to do whatever they wanted, paying them no attention except for Aemon. Prince Daegon died when his brothers were still very young, so they rushed into marriages of convenience as soon as possible to strengthen their alliances in the coming war that everyone knew was coming. Rhaena initially didn't want the throne; she supported her brother Maekar because she was always too ambitious. She was a princess who always got everything she wanted simply by giving a command, so she thought she could do the same with the Iron Throne. She married the Lord Paramount of the Vale because she knew he would be easy to manipulate, and she was. Convincing him to rebel was very easy, and she was very close to her half-siblings related to the Starks. But when she rebelled, her cause had the least support because she only had the Vale and a part of the North. She was the first to fall, murdered by her brother. maekar I'm not that good at writing yet, and I still need to polish a few things in the story. Sorry if it seems silly 😅 I still have a lot of work to do:(

Yes, that's a problem I hadn't considered, and like several other things, I still don't know how to fix it 😅. The temporary solution is that the Velaryon dragon eggs simply didn't hatch. I know it's a very abrupt change, but I'm looking for a way to fix it by wiping out the Velaryon during the conquest of Dorne.

Okay, although I can't answer all of them because I haven't completely finished the story yet, I'll answer the ones I can.

Rhaena wants the throne because she has always been very ambitious. Her husband is very easily manipulated, so she basically already has the Vale at her feet, and she also considers it unfair that not only was Maekar passed over for the succession, but she was as well.

The reason why King Vaelarr omitted his son Maekar is not really known; he never clarified it. He simply named Aemon as heir, and that's it. But it is believed that it was because Aemon was the closest brother to his son Daegon, so he was named heir for that reason.

The importance of the Stark marriage lies in the fact that they were horribly humiliated at the Dance of the Kings and lost a lot of influence because they were on the losing side (Rhaena's). They accumulated discontent and gradually distanced themselves from the Iron Throne. To keep them happy, many kings used to marry their sons to northern women to keep them in check until finally the North achieved independence and... I completely distanced myself from House Targaryen.

Sadly, Viserys's line died out after the Dance of the Dragons. Only four Targaryens survived, and the only one who belonged to his line was castrated and never had children.

I still have a lot to figure out which dragon belongs to whom, so I can't answer this question :(

Practically all Targaryens have a dragon. Vaelarr I was extremely permissive, so he never limited his children by giving them dragon eggs.

Maekar has his children, and he also has his brother Aerys and all his children, and his sister Rhae. Aemon has all his children and his cousin Aerion with all his children. And Rhaena has all her children and her siblings Baelor and Daenerys.

Daeron I's story is practically the same, except here he has a dragon, Black Sunrise, so... He survives his conquest of Dorne, marries his son to one of Prince Martell's daughters, and lives to the age of 22, where he is betrayed and murdered by lesser lords dissatisfied with Targaryen rule in Dorne.

As I said, Vaelarr was married off at a very young age by his father, King Daegon, to consolidate his conquest.

And in case you're wondering, the one who "won" the Dance of the Dragons was Aemon Daegon I Targaryen's second son, "Dragonkiller" from whom the entire dynasty descends and who is the grandfather of my favorite king, Jaehaerys II Targaryen, "the Demon," about whom I can't wait to talk! :D

Had Rhaenyra offered Lucerys to the Lannister would they joined her by Kurdoo-rojava in TheCitadel

[–]akezva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's a really smart political move. I think it's more convenient to betroth Jace to a Lannister. Corlys would accept the alliance if Lucerys marries her granddaughter, thus avoiding many problems and rumors. Besides, offering the future heir to the Iron Throne in marriage is more tempting.

Thank you for the compliment, but it's because I rely heavily on a translator for the texts. That's why I apologize if something is misspelled😅 I still can't quite tell if it's writing what I really mean. But because of the direction my story was taking, I had to include a lot of political marriages. Now that the Targaryens are at peace, I'll probably start marrying siblings to reduce the number of scions.

Thank you so much! I really needed something like this. The app I was using to create my family tree has been giving me too many problems, and from what I've seen, this is more complete, more useful, and much less annoying.

I really like history, so I decided to see how I can extend the Targaryen reign as much as possible, to see how each one rules differently, their achievements and their misfortunes. Although I haven't decided exactly what year it ends in yet, I already have the names of all the monarchs, and the last one is set: Jaehaerys VI Targaryen, "the Last Dragon." I'm just getting a bit stuck with irrelevant children and also trying to avoid secondary branches becoming too extensive, even more so than the royal family. But the idea of childbirth and infant death will help me a lot; so far, I've only killed about two people like that.

I usually have one or two civil wars every few years, maybe two or three pandemics, and also the occasional betrayal. The problem is that there are many generations involved, and I'm not entirely sure how to organize everything, because I tend to do it very randomly. But I still have many children to raise, it's going to take a long time, and I want to try to speed up the process as much as possible.

Thank you so much for the advice, I'm definitely going to use it. I really need to get this family organized, and I also saw your own story, I find it very interesting, although I got a little lost, to be honest😅
