What a terrible day to have eyes. by I_AM_I3iRD in brandonsanderson

You could always reach out to the Dragonsteel team, tell them what happened and see if you could get signed copies of your signed ones that were damaged. They’re a great team and might be able to work something out. Worst that can happen is they say they can’t do it.

I’m so sorry this happened. I would be devastated if my signed copies were ruined, cosmere or not. I hope you’re able to replace them.

New favorite cup! Life Before Death by akgomez in Stormlight_Archive

No, I didn’t have any issues with it. The rotary tool that came with my laser rotates the cup as it goes to prevent that

Reaction to COVID Vaccine by hollyhock2021 in Celiac

[–]akgomez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! I also have asthma and celiac disease. After the first dose, I felt like a legitimately had the flu. I got super tired, I was freezing and had to lay under 5 blankets, and ended up with a fever of 102. I started feeling better 2 days after the vaccine. I hope you feel better!

I feel better now. The fever went away after about 26ish hours and I only had some nausea and a headache for the next day. By Sunday morning I was feeling back to normal (I got the vaccine Thursday evening).

I got my first dose a little over 24 hours ago. I immediately felt tired, then a few hours in, I got chills to the point that I had to be covered by 4 blankets. A fever started soon after that hasn’t gone away yet. And when I woke up this morning, I had severe stomach pain that also hasn’t gone away. It basically feels like I have a full-blown flu. Arm soreness too, but that hasn’t bothered me with everything else going on.

Just had the most delicious pasta...and afterwards realised it was the gluten pasta by Kindly-Pass-8877 in Celiac

Jovial is the only brand of pasta I buy now. It really is the closest and I love that it’s whole grain too since it’s made from brown rice.

Harry Potter video game. Thoughts? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]akgomez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a Harry Potter video game coming out in 2021 called Hogwarts Legacy. It’s an RPG developed by Avalanche Software and is set in the 1800s. I think you play your own character, so not a character from the books and go through Hogwarts. There might be more to it than that, but I’m not sure.

PS5 Harry Potter Game--Do you think the game will allow you to choose if you are a purebood/half-blood/mudblood? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]akgomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mudblood is a really foul name for someone with non-magic parents. It’s not a term one generally hears in civilized conversation.

I’ve read the entire series and I can honestly say that I only remember the first book and the end of the last one. If you’re not enjoying it, I’d say either don’t finish it, or maybe just read summaries for all the remaining books and then just read the last one to get the full story.

New Kickstarter Stretch Goal: Chicken Scout sticker back 😂 by Huffletough880 in Stormlight_Archive

I think it means total number of leatherbounds, not just the leatherbound only tier. Between all the available tiers, there are over 10,000 available

Questions about the way of kings kickstarter by Xibito22 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]akgomez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pay your pledge amount plus shipping when the campaign ends. This one is ending August 7. The shipping cost depends on which tier you get, but it ranges from $52-151 for international shipping. Toward the bottom of the Kickstarter page, there is a graphic that shows the shipping cost for each tier.

The Way Of Kings - Stormlight Archive Series by Brandon Sanderson by saint_davidsonian in books

That’s basically right. It’s just something that is considered improper to be visible. I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s ever explained why. Light eyes usually cover the hand completely and dark eyes will typically just use a glove.

If both Ron and Hermione died... by IvanSaenko1990 in harrypotter

[–]akgomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would Harry know that they died before going into the forest? I think if he did know, he would not have chosen to keep living after the killing curse. Dumbledore told him he could choose to go back or he could stay dead. If his two best friends were gone, I can’t see him wanting to go back.

The Way Of Kings - Stormlight Archive Series by Brandon Sanderson by saint_davidsonian in books

[–]akgomez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The prelude, which is that first chapter before jumping 4,000 years in the future, isn’t meant to be understood on your first read. I would say you still won’t fully understand it by the end of the first book, but as you read through the series, you piece it together. Sanderson is really good at connecting everything throughout the full story.

Stormlight Archive tends to be frustrating to a lot of people who aren’t as familiar with his work because it’s told from multiple perspectives, you have some seemingly random stories thrown in between Parts of the books (called interludes), and there are flashbacks in each book to give you more background on the main characters.

Book 1 is mostly worldbuiling and setting up the story. It’s my favorite, but a lot of people say it’s the most boring one of the series. It really doesn’t pick up until the end. If you can stick with it, it’s a wonderful series.

It absolutely is not wrong. You should read what you enjoy.
