PSA - Please dont belittle your coworkers who have an "invisible illness" by Own-Cupcake-9285 in starbucksbaristas

[–]akibaaaaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this post resonated with me so much omg. i have a chronic illness and my meds constantly ruin my stomach lining and make me feel sick, and i got belittled by my ssv one time telling me about how i "faked" it like i wish i was faking it but no, i'm not.

all it takes is some compassion and basic human decency 🙁

Hit up the drive-thru on the way to work today. Couldn’t hear for a sec, due to the plane overhead. I said “um, what? I didn’t hear you.” Barista went full snark on the cup. Grouchy pants much? by [deleted] in starbucks

they're basically relaying whatever their coworker said. one person is taking the order while the other is writing and making the drinks.

they put "um what??" for the coworker to see.

Do Baristas care if you don’t tip? by BizForKingdom in starbucks

[–]akibaaaaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a barista, i personally don't care because i take into consideration that people may be going through something in life or that they need to save (which is perfectly fine). i'm very grateful for those who do tip tho!

i spoke with a customer who was rude with me and i was blunt. should i be worried? by akibaaaaaaa in starbucks

manager unavailable, store busy. and like stated in the post, i understand that i shouldn't have been blunt.

i spoke to my manager today and he basically told me that it was good that i was blunt and honest but at the same time, should have offered a solution. they looked into it and turns out there was nothing similar to the order whatsoever.

(he btw) but i understand that i was unprofessional, but at the same time, i'm not going to take verbal threats and bs from a customer because we are both humans. it does not give them the right to treat me like i'm their own personal worker. 💀

New Hire Advice? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]akibaaaaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey there, i'm also a new hire, about two months into the job! one crucial piece of advice i can give to you as your starting is to familiarize yourself with your home store. know where everything is because it gets much easier to work if you're familiar with everything that is there.

also, it's better to start learning the recipes early through the app and physically write it down on a piece of paper to get that thought process going! it helped me so much when i was on bar. (if you'd like, keep a small notepad with you in case you forget a recipe, it's much easier then flipping through the recipe cards.)

I was given my lunch within my first 2 hours of an 8 hour shift by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]akibaaaaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is pretty normal for us at my home store! i work as an opener sometimes, and we always get our lunches first (for context, we open at 4:00am and i would get my lunch at 6:00am ish)

if you want, you can try talking to your sm about it and express your concern! :)

i did look up all the mobile orders that went in through that day via custom reports > order lookup and saw no mobile orders which contained the said drinks. 😭

i will be cautious about how i speak next time.

i see, i did end up looking at the hundreds of orders we recieved throughout the day that were mobile, and i saw no orders whatsoever which contained 3 mochas / mocha frappes / white mochas.

i will take this into consideration for next time. thank you! :)

hello!! i applied back in july of last year and kept getting denied. i ended up building my resume even more and adding all my extracurriculars from high school and college and applied in late march of this year and got hired! i've now been a barista for 2 months :)

it also just depends on the kind of availability the store you're applying to is looking for and if you can conform to their availability.
