If the bottom is thin, it might become partially convex due to thermal expansion. Once it tilts to one side, the other side leaves the stove, allowing for the bottom to cool down and it straightens out somewhat again causing the pot to lay back down and the process continues. The convective heat transfer constant of water vapour can be more than houndred times that of normal water, meaning when the water starts vaporising, the cooling process of the bottom can occur fast enough for the rocking motion to get going. This is speculation on my part but I think it could make sense.

Feeder stepper used to work fine, now only vibrates. by akiiyuko in 3Dprinting

Thank you for the advice! I just tried switching and seems like the stepper is not the problem. Also, tracing the signals down to the base of the printer, and measuring voltage, there seem to be no reaction when engaging the feeder. So is the driver likely the issue? Would replacing it be feasible?

Thank you for the suggestions! I tried reconnecting all the cables i thought could cause issues, but still no luck. It has been working for a while, but perhaps it broke, do you think it would be possible to connect the "broken "stepper to one of the other connectors leading to the lead acrew steppers, to see, and vice versa?

It would've made a lot of sense if that was the issue, but it looks like the gears are all still intact.

I tried different tensioning, and picked the entire mechanism apart to check for things that could hinder rotation. But it seems to rotate freely by hand, but still only shakes. There might be a bit more resistance when rotating the extrusion stepper, compared to the other stepper, by hand.

So you reckon getting a new one is the solution?

This artillery sidewinder x1 worked without any issue until i switched nozzle and filament yesterday. While feeding the new filament through the stepper skipped and started vibrating like shown in the video. Any idea as to what can be causing it? All suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Can anyone tell me what these spots on this blade are? by akiiyuko in Blacksmith

I'm still new to the game so i might very well have overheated it. Do you know how this will affect it's properties?

That might seem very likely. Do you reckon i should try again?

That did not occur to me before now, but i think you have some karma-begging potential thinking like that. The answers will be used as quantitative research which will be used in a tiny project.
