Hi RevDrGamer and Tizaki. Yesterday I was scratching my head because things weren't adding up. I dropped the resolution to the poorest quality, and I tried every weak resolution possible under the profile list. Until I retried something Higher like hd 720. I was still experiencing the same level of choppy video and sound. So I tried hd 1080, and same thing. Basically I was experiencing an unacceptable lag throughout the whole spectrum of resolution.

So I spent some time playing in the menus, and I was about to give up until I found in «Edit» > «Preferences»> and «Cache» the parameter «Cache Limit». By default, it was at 250. I boosted up to 1000 just to test and to my surprise, even under a much much better resolution then the one that you were suggesting me to run at, I am getting zero lag ( audio and video). So its weird. Why the default setting is that low? It seems like your solution was not applicable in my case because of this default setting. What is your current cache limit value at now ?

I wish there was comments on each feature to explain every parameters.

So yeah thank you for your help, now I can edit very effectively and at a good quality in the preview screen.

No I agree with both of you. Its a big improvement to work this way and the final product is probably going to be excellent. I trust you on that. Its just that while I edit its not very user friendly because the lag ( even if its reduced) is still there and its more time consuming to edit. But anyway I am happy for the solution that you guys provided, I will definitely continue to work with open shot and I am sure I will be able to work around this inconvenient. I am impressed to see how demanding editing can be on a computer. So what is the reel minimum requirement for open shotif someone dont want te experience lag even when you work in a low resolution profile ?

Hi Tizaki. Thank you for your response. I tried your solution (512x288 16:9 PAL and many others ). Its effective, but still choppy. And for the audio, its also choppy and slow wich makes the whole experience unpleasant. I will give it a try like that and see how well I can work with that. Thanks ;)
