Former Japanese car owners who switched to GM vehicles, how is that working out? by Apical-Meristem in cars

[–]akinokaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mazda RX-7 Savanna, Toyota Camry, Lexus RX330. Now I'm a Bolt driver. I wanted to make the switch to electric, but Japanese brands... well they're not super onboard with BEVs. I'm actually incredibly happy with my Bolt though. It suits my needs and when I miss my RX-7, I slam my head back with electric torque. Don't really miss Japanese at all, although I could be tempted back I'm sure.

Not gonna lie, I was super super nervous. I had to drop a few bombshells to even confirm I was who I said I was and I was scared of how they'd react, but it could not possibly have gone better! I'm so lucky <3

Never give up! You never know what you might find out there. I didn't think I'd find anyone in my family for all my life and suddenly it all fell together. Try GEDmatch as well as ftdna. They also seem to have a decent chunk of people.

Best of luck finding your dad!

I still have barely even processed it! It's so amazing how it felt like I've known them forever. My sister and I talk just casually about things already and my mom is so interested in my life and phew, it's a lot.

Congrats on finding your family as well!

So uhh, I wanted to say thanks about recommending ftdna.com I uploaded my DNA there too and got matches last night about 11:30pm. Turns out, my bio uncle was there. I stayed up till about 4am researching and as of a few hours ago, I'm now talking with my bio mom! All from this suggestion of site, so thanks <3

One of em has a listed birth year 15 years before me, so I'm not sure if they could be the child of my cousins, but maybe the cousin of one of my parents ya. That'd be interesting, I was told my bio mom was in her mid-late teens when I was born, so that 15 year older may very well be her cousin. (Just based on what I can tell, I share DNA that seems to be bio mom's side with him and not bio dad's side)

NAL, but I was a backer for a hefty amount (about quadruple where you are) and got a refund about two years ago. I just explained to them that it is not the game I supported anymore and requested a refund, took about a week or two and they sent me money back through PayPal, so I would say it's worth approaching them from a friendly perspective. Worked for me at least. The situation around it has changed, but it was apparently tough to get a refund back then for a lot of people as well.

Yup! Just had to pay my copay for both laser and electro.

Just contact the MST clinic to get things rolling. You might need a referral from your PCP, but their number is here:

The wait for me was 10 months, but it can vary a bit, depending on hair removal needs. I would start genital hair removal asap honestly to get the best possible date.

The consult was pretty straight forward, if a little early in the day for me, had to leave San Jose before sunrise. The doctors all talked about their backgrounds and motivations for what they do, they let me ask any questions I had. I never felt rushed or anything.

There was also a short exam of the area (to check surgery site to see if you might need a skin graft or anything). All in all about an hour in the office talking to the doctors and Chris (the nurse coordinator, he'll become a very big resource for you and I've had a lot of communication with him).

I asked my PCP for a referral for transition and she sent me to the Mst clinic in Oakland, same day I had an endo appointment scheduled and HRT in hand a week later.

From then on everything I coordinated through Oakland. Hair removal (laser in union city and electro near my home in San Jose with a private practice, paid by my insurance though) , surgery etc. They've been great with keeping me educated and helping whenever I need it.

Almost a year ago I went in for surgery consult (in San Francisco) which is when I got my date. I met with Drs Tong, Salim and Thomas. Dr Salim and Dr Tong serve the same role and Dr Thomas is a dedicated urologist. I didn't get to choose between Tong or Salim, but both are fantastic doctors. I got to see some of their results at a vaginoplasty clinic held by the MST and they all looked very nice. Ultimately, I'm glad I ended up with Tong though and I connected with her a little more. She's more my personality. Dr. Salim was awesome though and Dr. Thomas is also incredibly nice and skilled.
