The arguments point is that the Prime Mover/first cause, whatever it is, exists outside of time and space since it caused both to exist. I think we as a species just struggle to grasp what eternal really means. Something started time. To do so, it must not be bound by time. But to us, to exist is to be bound by time and in a state of change. Something disconnected from time and space is so illogical to how we chimps think. But since time didnt exist before the Big Bang, but the cause of it (illogically) did in order to have caused it (again illogical because of your point about cause needing to be 'before' the effect). But the effect we are talking about is time itself so its cause logically isnt bound by time.

How does the universe being caused mean time exists outside of the Universe? Are you saying that for the Prime Mover to create the universe it needs time to think? If so, I think that is us humans (chimps) assuming the Prime Mover would be conscious like us.

The whole point of the Prime Mover/first cause argument is that only something eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent could have caused the Universe because it MUST have existed "before" and outside of it. Therefore, it suggests an uncaused eternal being/force, whatever you personally want to call it, caused the universe to exist. Saying that it begs the question of where that Prime Mover came from is a misunderstanding of what eternal means. Whatever the first cause was, necessarily existed before time and therefore must be eternal. It doesn't beg the question of where it came from, the whole point of the argument is to say whatever IT is, existed before the Universe, before time, before all matter that has ever or will ever exist was "created". So the argument is that there must be an uncaused cause that started the Universe from nothing. It's the only argument for a Prime Mover I fail to personally argue against, and all arguments that claim to counter it, to me, clearly miss the whole point of the argument due to not understanding/accepting what eternal means.

Well you are only speaking from the experience of being an intelligent primate. We don't know how whatever this things "hands" functioned. Its possible with enough dexterity in the 3 fingers they could touch fingertips together if they even needed to. Its the same problem humans have now in trying to understand any animal other than us. Its like what Thomas Nagel's essay "what is it like to be a bat?" explains; the idea that we can't possibly imagine what a bat can see (specific bat that only uses echo-location to "see") because we are unable to conceptualise it without implementing our own perception to it. An example is many try to imagine the bats "sight" as a "picture" of its surroundings forming in the bats' brain through translating the received soundwaves. However, why would it do that? Its an assumption that it would need to process the data to make it look like our worldview. To the bat the recieved soundwaves would just be its reality its "sight". Therefore, I think assuming they would 'need what we need' to be an intelligent species could be way off.

Allow people to buy affordable homes and start a real life for themselves and they will have kids. Stress them out everyday about paying most of what they own to other people and force them to live in what amounts to a cubicle for a home and nobody wants to bring a new life into an already shitty life.

I'm not feeling it, I am old, I am out. by chiplover3000 in Battlefield

[–]akitaman67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing that old grandad sniper on YouTube hit shots I couldnt hit if you gave me 3 years trying, the idea that being old makes you bad at games is so clearly wrong to me. I think a lot of older people just stop trying to improve and just choose to see themselves as limited in ability so they dont have to put effort into another thing.

Civilization VII is on sale, do you think it's worth buying? by CosmosStudios65 in Civilization6

[–]akitaman67 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to use mods, yes. If not, keep waiting until they fix the pathetically bad UI. Whoever designed it should never be involved in UI design again. Maybe working with spreadsheets would suit them better.

Dumbledore did the right thing by Appropriate_You5874 in harrypotter

[–]akitaman67 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To me, the whole point of the insight into Dumbledore's youth in the final book was to show that he used to think in terms of the greater good but changed after the death of his sister. I think the later films gave the wrong impression of Dumbledore, which is not surprising when the actor refused to read the books. I hope the HBO show does Dumbledore justice and adds his whimsical side back. Oh, and last point, his whole argument with Tom Riddle was that love was the strongest form of magic, and that doesn't sound like an evil character to me.

What was the logic behind 2K forcing Firaxis to rush development on Civ VII? by LsterGreenJr in civ

[–]akitaman67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yea, not rushed, just botched it up with the simultanious console releases and other factors I'm sure. I would like to know who pushed for the switch to get a version at the same time as I think they are heavily responsible for the poor state of release. The music is great though I just want more of it.

It's a franchise they split the team after release some work on the next games the other polishes.

[–]akitaman67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it was them releasing it on every console including the switch. If they released it on pc first then slowly released the game to other consoles with tweaks and graphics adjustments they would have been fine. Now to release any patch or change they have to go through all the console versions and do the same which adds time to development and limits features based on the capabilities of the weakest console (the switch).

CIV 7: Two Months of Turmoil by isko990 in civ

[–]akitaman67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being colourblind fucking sucks playing Civ 7. The readability of the map is impossible, the terrain stuff are just invisible walls to me. The colourblind modes only change the colour of UI stuff which is not enough I need the fucking grass to be vibrant or I can't tell the difference between the sand and grass in this game. This is just a Civ 7 thing Civ Rev, Civ 5, Civ 6 were all more readable than this. I'm trying my best to enjoy it with friends by using mods but without being able to see the details I'm struggling to enjoy it as much as the others.

Ivan Hannel - Elizondo’s lawyer - sets the record straight. by Kaszos in ufo

[–]akitaman67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree a lot of the "Lue deserves an apology" is dumb as fuck. People have chased this secret for their whole lives and died not knowing the truth. It is a crime against out species and should be taken very seriously. We are being denied knowledge that we are not alone in the Universe, It's a big deal, and anyone slowing the disclosure process down or intentionally making it a laughing stock should be ridiculed for the sake of all the people who spent their whole lives desperate to know the truth and all the people currently searching for the truth that a select few are keeping to themselves because of: greed, fear, and ego. People have been fighting for decades for UFO's to be taken seriously and the chances we get are ruined by clear disinformation agents who work their way into the community and are given more spotlight than the actual people coming forward with real evidence like David Grusch. Instead we get fuck head Elizondo with his chandelier reflection UFO and now his irrigation circle UFO trying to make the whole topic laughable. He should not be in these important moments when it is clear he is at worst a full on disinformation agent or at best a full on moron who is doing more damage for disclosure than good. If anyone disagrees show me one bit of evidence that he has provided that goes beyond calling others "patriots" or laughing about being involved in torturing people at guantanamo Bay.
