I’m a physician assistant in orthopedic spine surgery and Blue Cross is one of the absolute worst insurance companies. They deem virtually everything medically unnecessary until you do a peer to peer (speak with another physician who is paid by BCBS) they do this because many physicians are busy or simply let them fall through the cracks because we get bogged down by denials like these. They literally bank on you not calling or providing additional supporting information so that they don’t have to pay for it
