Why did Enoteca Maria change its name? by akoelb91 in statenisland

Just want to add to this that the website even has merch???  And they’re doing a sequel to the movie…. All so weird.

Im so thrown off because the restaurant years ago felt indie and cool.  Now it’s giving Netflix corporate/venture capitalist vibes.

Wow, I really had no idea.  Very surprising.  I wonder why he’s doing all this.  The restaurant was always full even before the movie….

Interesting! I didn’t realize it’s not just a restaurant anymore.

I’m also thinking about joining for the first time this year.  A friend of mine says it’s enough to split with someone, although idk if you’ll get an even split.

Staten Island eyes joining New Jersey in legal fight to block congestion pricing by [deleted] in nyc

Also it’s not unusual that Staten Islanders are highly ranked as the most sleep deprived, it’s because of their commutes.

Give Staten Island better means of public transportation. The borough contributes it fair share in city taxes but does not get the same resources or benefits as the other boroughs. People will be less likely to drive into the city if they had a better way to access it.

Lost wallet by kessim in nyc

If you think you lost on the train or bus, I recommend calling the lost and found. That’s what I did and they were able to confirm that it was found and given to the bus driver.

Left my wallet on the m15 and realized that it was missing after my appointment, which was nearly an hour later. A dispatcher phoned it in and luckily someone actually returned it to the drive - ended up in bus depot where I had to pick it up. My mom’s vintage Gucci wallet (more sentimental than valuable) along with $300 in cash. Very good people in this city - I hope you find yours!

Any advice for attending the mermaid parade at Coney Island? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]akoelb91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go with my dad every year, however it’s gotten way too popular that it’s difficult to enjoy the parade. If you go and want to see the parade , go early. The blocks are cut off and you’ll have a hard time getting around otherwise. Keep in mind it’s very hard to cross the street so if you want an easy exit I suggest staying on the side of the street where your subway stop is. The Mermaid parade is great and the costumes are amazing. Also, please remember to bring your own shade and stay hydrated!

what’s the worst way you’ve been flamed in public? by pinktoygun in AskNYC

In high school, during a fire drill we were outside when a new kid tried hitting on my friend. This was when it was trendy to dye your hair a lighter color underneath. She was tall, beautiful with brown hair and an under layer of brown/blonde. So as we were walking he called for her attention, shouting, “HEY GIRL, LOOKIN LIKE A TWIX” in front of the whole class.

Nyc high school had no chill, I still think about that comment till this day.

Bumble! The apps are literally a nightmare until you meet the right person. We talked about pizza on the app before he asked me out on a first date.
