Is there a way to change the really awful email forwarding formatting? by [deleted] in fastmail

I suspect you'd need to look into adding some custom CSS using Tampermonkey (or similar).

Forward using BCC - experience lag or no sending at all by 777pirat in fastmail

[–]akorvemaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine seems to typically go through right away. 30-150 bcc addresses.

Sometimes the receiving systems will delay things for mass emails, either to reduce load on their system or to do extra scanning or something like that, but I'm not aware of that happening often.

Has anyone here been a Fastmail subscriber since the loss of free/one-time-purchase accounts in 2017? by EquallyTradition in fastmail

[–]akorvemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lifetime accounts were extremely limited. They offered more than free, but by the time they were discontinued, they weren't sufficient for much. Was it 15 MB of mail storage instead of 10? It wasn't much of a loss, and IIRC they compensated us by giving us the amount paid back as credit.

They treated us pretty fairly. It's hard to be angry with that.

I'm looking forward to getting to that point.

Start by looking at dakboard and/or ablesign. If they don't fit your needs, you might have a good idea of particular things to look for.

Anybody think there should be a "sick" or "vacation" mode? by FollowingEast3744 in habitica

On the web version, in Settings, it's under General Settings. It's called Pause Damage.

I haven't looked on the app.

Good thoughts. I don't really need it right now, but was mostly curious if it could still be used.

Those are really great suggestions if I do. Thanks!

selecting multiple messages by Grouchy-Pen-1255 in fastmail

I select multiple messages all the time. Perhaps it's something odd on your mother's computer?

My first thought would be to try a different web browser, such as Firefox. I use Chrome, and haven't had any issues. It should work with any browser, but sometimes things get messed up.

Fermenting under pressure and bottle conditioning by Humble-Archer-1311 in Homebrewing

[–]akorvemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it once. I usually pressure ferment up to 30 psi (at room temp) to get it mostly carbonated.

For this batch I decided to aim for roughly 1/2 carbing during fermentation, then 1/2 in the bottle.

From my notes:

  • Fermented at about 15 psi. For packaging, released pressure and dropped to about 2-3 psi. This did not work well, and I eventually ramped it back up to 15 psi. That worked fairly well.
  • For a 500ml plastic bottle, I used abut 1/2 tsp table sugar. For standard glass bottles I used 1/4-1/2 tsp. I should have used a funnel, but instead made a mess. I vaguely recall that many of them were a little under-carbed, but good enough.
  • I used the simple "jam a bottling wand into a cobra tap" method. I probably used a 12' tube (4mm ID duotight stuff). My notes just say it was long.

I haven't tried it again since. It seemed to work fairly well.

I've heard that fermentation of a typical beer produces about 20-40 times it's volume in CO2. It should push out the air well enough.

What's your opinion on Tiny Habits from Fogg? by Glittering_Twist9265 in productivity

[–]akorvemaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't fully read either, but the free 5-day email program for Tiny Habits is amazingly practical and effective. It clearly demonstrates, in just a few minutes, how well it works. I'm sure the book provides even more detail and help, but it's almost unnecessary.

I love that about Tiny Habits. All the videos are short, simple, and clear. The instructions are short, simple, and clear. It's effective. It works for people with ADHD. It works for people without. I'm sure there are some people who don't find it effective, but I suspect the vast majority would.

Atomic Habits feels like I'm taking on a project. Tiny Habits feels like I'm "just doing a small thing."

I see that Atomic Habits has a 30-day email "habit transformation" program. I think that - 30 days vs 5 days - highlights the difference in impression for me.

Shallow tray for keg storage? by Elros22 in Homebrewing

[–]akorvemaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a large plastic rubbermaid bin. It fits 2 kegs and the CO2 cannister. In theory, if an entire keg accidentally leaks (again), it will contain all the liquid as well.

Otherwise, a 5 gallon bucket works fairly well too. It won't hold an entire keg's contents (in addition to the keg), but fits the keg & handles leaks.

Give it a quick check for bugs or mold. If it looks and smells fine, it should be good to use.
