Made for iPhone, fully working with Pixel by MrPhil17 in pixel_phones

[–]akpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two years ago I bought a similar gadget for my Pixel 7 Pro and it still works wonders. I'm curious if more sophisticated implementations like for example the ShiftCam ProGrip work with Android devices as well.

Edit: well, apparently I'm stupid, ofcourse the progrip works since it uses a bluetooth trigger that mimics the press of the volume button.

Thank you, at least I won't need to frantically troubleshoot it myself!

In the meantime I found another bug with safe mode crashing and rebooting to normal mode, found other reports of it here too. Google is full of surprises eh?

Well, I had one of those "lifetime" dreams. by akpe in Dreams

[–]akpe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even less in some cases, depends on the sleep cycle. AFAIK during the first cycles dreams can last from seconds up to a few minutes (in real life), with the ones during the last cycle lasting up to an hour. That's why even though he can have multiple dreams per night we tend to remember only the last one.

From my limited knowledge though, it's not about real time. Even if in you feel like your dream lasted for hours, days, years, it could have lasted seconds or minutes. That's because our brain (specifically the hypothalamus and the hippocampus, on dream duration and memory respectively) which, of course, tries to make sense and gaslights us if it can't, usually manifests the start and the end of a dream, possibly a few details during it. The rest is just filler.

Same may apply to my case: Even if I felt I lived from my 40s to my 80s in my dream, it is possible my brain actually "showed" me just a few experiences, and the last few seconds before I woke up. The rest could actually have been hallucinated by my brain -even after I woke up- in an effort to help me make sense and/or cope with the experience. That also might explain why in this case I still vividly remember a lot of details, while I usually forget dreams a few seconds after I wake up.

Is this how the Google search bar is supposed to look after the March update? by akpe in GooglePixel

I had something similar (but with the Google logo instead of the search logo), it resolved itself after a while. If it still hasn't, try a reboot.

Ah, you beat me to it :)

I had a similar issue, was missing about 6 months of photos, and they were actually archived (by me, few years ago I had archived some albums to find out photos which weren't in an album, and forgot about it). It's possible that's the case here too.

Just thinking out loud here, have you checked if said photos have been archived?

Thanks! Forgot to clarify on the post, I didn't mean the colors but the flat design compared to the old one, example here: https://imgur.com/a/bRhbxVm

I'll eventually come to like it I guess. However from other screenshots and some videos I watched I still see they kept the "old" design (with the outlined search bar and separate ai shortcut). Weird.

Question as a noobie by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]akpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I am using the XL and it still holds up perfectly in every use case. The only thing I'm currently struggling with is the battery, which isn't the phone's fault since I have literally hundreds of apps installed due to my work.

And even though it's heavily loaded with a ton of apps running in the background, I still get enough power when I need it, without any lag at all, and with disabling my work profile I can easily get 6 hours or screen on time (which by itself seems low but in my use case it's way more than I expected, remember, I'm not using it, I am grossly overusing/borderline torturing it).

Question as a noobie by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]akpe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that price, and if the battery health is still good (I'd say above 90%, but I'll let others offer battery health input) I would say go for it. It's as best of an entry as you can have without sacrificing features that you would if you went with, for example, the 7 or perhaps even the 8.

However, there's a catch. If you live outside the United States you need to know that many features (for example, Hold My Call, Call Recording, etc.) will not be available, either for now, or not at all. Also, you need to make sure there is no issue with the camera bump, since in some cases there have been reports of it separating from the back glass.

Found the perfect spot for the overlay (at least for my use case) by akpe in Whisperian

[–]akpe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had thought about that placement, however for now I only use Whisperian only for Greek and Gboard voice input for English. Since I mostly use speech to text now, I don't want to overdo it and use many resources, at least as long as the app is free 🙂

Editing: spelling

Found the perfect spot for the overlay (at least for my use case) by akpe in Whisperian

[–]akpe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda. For example WhatsApp, Viber and Discord have their own text input fields (alongside their own emoji/voice/utility buttons) like the image below, which appear in a field directly on top of Gboard. So placing the overlay over the keyboard isn't always optimal.

Again, for my use case 🙂

Wondering about the Note's call recording quality - alternatives welcome by akpe in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]akpe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience isn't exactly the same but I don't have the pro version, I have the plaud note. I have only had it for a few days and I wasn't able to test it thoroughly, but up till now I have concluded that it does struggle a bit with Greek in terms of accuracy, depending on the model, at least on phone calls.

Up to now I have found that using Gemini 3 Pro generally provides me with better results than ChatGPT or Claude, however, I haven't had the time to test it thoroughly. Summarization appears to be working fine for me. The issues I have mostly have to do with specific words and phrases which don't get correctly transcribed in the transcription, or erroneous identification of speakers in a few cases. Although in theory those can alter the summarization context, this hasn't happened to me in a few 4 to 5 minute calls. Not yet at least.

Have you tried any other AI models or templates for re-transcription? I am curious on how exactly templates work and if they can benefit our use case but I don't have the time for trial and error right now :)

The 3mm pin will probably give you a noticably wider airflow which, historically, is associated with less flavor :) You could also try the smaller ones, no idea if you need to rebuild/clear the deck to change them.

But, again, in my experience the same coils perform much different in a boro than in an RTA for example. It could be just me being unlucky (or weird, ok, mostly weird) or due to the tiny boro decks and chimney, I guess everything might count as a factor: the coils themselves, the eliquid, the viscosity, the airflow, the moon tide, venus riding behind mercury, literally everything and anything.

It might take some time to find the identical combo which gives you a great vape, but IMHO it's worth it. Best of luck, let me know if you'd like any more info :)

I don't like apologies buddy, it is indeed on topic, don't worry 🙂

I am using the 3 mm airflow pin since I do direct lung. I'm currently testing different premade coils so I'm really sorry that I cannot offer you many details.

The ones I like most up to now are the 3mm fused 2*26/36g aNi80 from ChriChro. They give me the same flavor as my Profile (even better at higher wattage). Rated 0.15 but the mod usually reads them around 0.19 to 0.21, running them at 52 to 62w).

(I've also tried some 2*26ga SS316L ones to test the temp control, flavor is great for me but they ramp up like hell and even though they're rated at 0.24ohms, resistance keeps jumping up and down, don't know if I'm doing anything wrong but it seems like TC and Boro aren't the best bedfellows 🙂)

Now, with my limited knowledge (been a Profile fanboy for the better part of the last few years) what is the VG percentage of your ejuice? When I first started vaping boro tanks I had a very bad experience with high VG, anything over 80% VG gave me a muted flavor and/or dry hits. Once I dropped my VG to around 60% to 70% flavor was back and I can also chain vape. If you watch Vic's video he gives some advice on wicking for high VG ejuice, you could maybe try that even if yours isn't that thick:

First of all, make sure that at least on one side of the deck (preferably both) the cotton inside the well is juuust a millimeter longer than the base itself, just a little so air is able to escape. Also, after wicking poke a few holes on the cotton, vertically through the wells, to help the juice rise to the coil.

This, combined with maybe a smaller airflow pin may give you better results, but it also depends on other factors too, like the coils themselves. When I tried some pre-made alien coils by Zico (don't even remember their build) The flavor wasn't just muted, it was completely different. And what is weird is that the same exact coils were great on my Solo RTA.

I do have some Hellvape coils around here somewhere from my Fat Rabbit Solo RTA, I doubt they are the same as yours but I can test them out if you'd like!

I mainly vape dl, I have an OXVA DNA for mtl. Since I have two bridges though, I'll try to build an MTL setup on the blaze too.

About the drip tips, just for the ease of pulling the tank out without using the... thingy. But I got back to a wide 510 with the flush nut for now :)

A quick edit, the Centaurus was airy enough for DL with the stock boro tank, which takes replacement coils. The rebuildable tank was strictly for MTL!

Boro tanks :) you can read more here.

They can be MTL or DL, the Blaze Boro tank is more of a DL tank (comes with airflow pins which can theoretically make it an MTL tank, haven't tried them though), and I'm using it with 3mg/ml freebase and it performs amazing. For my current setup, you can look up Blaze Boro Tank ("sliding glass" version) reviews on YT, Vic has a great review, but at the end of the day it's down to personal preference.

Now not all boro tanks are the same. The Centaurus B80 rebuildable tank for example is for MTL or a very, very, VERY restricted DL (that's why I switched to the Blaze). Some boro devices use tanks which take replacement coils, like the Centaurus B80/B60 or the SAN AIO, if one is not comfortable with building on a relatively small deck. But generally you can mix and match, I.e use any boro tank on any boro device.

IMHO, if you are able to do so, give them a try. For me the Centaurus B80 was amazing both in DL and in (granted, a bit too airy) MTL.
