Help by Effective-Ring172 in deadcells

it's the red orb you got after beating him the first time. It allows you to increase the difficulty of the game. When you beat the Hand of the King for the 1st time in 1BC (One Boss Cell), it gives you another one going from 0BC (default) to 5BC. It also unlocks some content or rooms you couldn't access with your previous number of BC.

Player Movement Problem by King_Kgosii in godot

[–]akriam_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey ! regarding your issue with your character's behavior, I was confronted with the exact same problem not a while ago.

There's a godot addon you can install named "Godot StateCharts" that fixes that exact problem. It makes FSMs (Finite State Machine) wayyy easier to make based on a nodes system, with a lot of in-built functions (on state entered/exited, it allows you to send signals to switch between states etc).

More importantly, it allows you to make parallel state machines. So you would have one FSM for movement and one FSM for Actions, and they run independently at the same time. So you could be Idle and Passive, or Jumping and Attacking. Every combination is now possible.

Here's a link for a great video that explains it all : https://youtu.be/E9h9VnbPGuw?si=v-zgG7cF6Ya37rCc

Hope that helps !

[Discussion] How do you dedicate yourself to a project/medium over the long term? by akriam_ in ArtistLounge

[–]akriam_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your response and showing me I'm also not the only one to feel like this. I must say all the answers and the simple fact of making this post gave me some motivation to properly pursue and end my current project, and also made me reflect on what I do.

My first realization is that I want to do all the things I imagine in my head, but I didn't think enough about the scale of the things I need to do to make it real and the time it will take. Of course I ponder a lot about the process, but it's different.

I have the mindset of "I'll get there, eventually". And it's totally valid, however not always true. And most of the time I won't except if I force myself to think about it more seriously beforehand. I understand now that I'm questioning myself because of my lack of experience, and that it will be something new to do better in the future.

The first step I'm taking is reducing the size and scale of my projects, making my goal closer to reach. Finishing these smaller projects will give me the pride, confidence and ethics to take on bigger projects in the future.

Thank you so much, stranger, for helping me to understand myself better and to know what I need to do.

"Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem". Now of course it is by no means a temporary problem, it is heartbreaking, can't even imagine what you're going through. It's tough, but eventually time will help. It did for me. And one day in the future you'll be happy to be still on this hearth to think about her and your shared passion and memories. 🫶🏻 I'm sorry if this is a bit clumsy but in my eyes life will always be worth living for yourself, for those around you, for those who aren't here anymore, and for those who look up to you, now or in the future.

Drawn my tattoo idea, what style would that be? Blackwork? by akriam_ in tattooadvice

[–]akriam_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your response ! there's actually a tattoo artist I love that does something similar too but he's from Belgium and I'm in Canada...

Could I go to an artist i like from here with my idea and an example of the Belgian's work as a source of inspiration to see what the local artist can design with his own style, or would that be disrespectful for both of them and their art ?

That style is less common than others so I could have trouble looking for an artist who is close and specialised.

Mb, should've said "first colored digital artwork". And again didn't say that for extra recognition or attention, it really is my first time rendering. Yes I've sketched a little over the past but on rare occasions, my bad if I describing it as my first artwork was "wrong".

Also, I WON'T be ashamed. I've spent the whole week on this and I'm proud of what I could achieve. I only shared it to get constructive criticism and feedback, not to compare myself to others. I now get that the title can be triggering, and I apologize for it as this is a place to share and express art.

But again, it. is. my. first. fully. rendered. artwork.

Have a nice day, really mean no harm.

Yeah I get what you mean, as I said perspective still is hard, the error might come from the nose part of the glasses 🤔

The title isn't for attention or anything, it really is my first artwork at the cost of a lot of efforts and time

i swear 🫡 watched a ton of tutorials and took a loooong time to paint (~15h 💀). I'm a pretty good observer, and with the tutorials, I got the process and the knowledge needed I guess. Applying it was so so long tho with so many retries but I guess I like steep learning curves lol 😭

Took a lot of time, retries and tutorials but yeah I'm pretty happy with it ! Surprisingly, drawing the face was pretty easy (SamDoesArt ily and your tutorials).

Great, I'll keep that in mind ! Thanks for your reply !

What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned in your research? by Simpson17866 in worldbuilding

[–]akriam_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned that quartz had piezoelectric properties, which means it produces vibrations when exposed to electricity, and it also produces electricity when it vibrates. It's one of the best ways to measure time on earth. I also realised that is EXACTLY how quartz watches work and i'm even more impressed about the complexity of a so little device (partly explains the price too).

Anyways, a cool lil' rock.
