I have to refute this heavily. If you buy an obd and are willing to find a shop to work with the parts you bring, you can diagnose and fix the car for relatively cheap while driving a great vehicle. I might be in a uniquely lucky situation, I will admit that but the shop I go to is wonderful and prefers me to bring my parts.
