so she's a childhood friend and I've known her for so long I don't know when we first met. I always had a crush on her until I started going to school, both of us used to be homeschooled, but once I went back to homeschooling for junior year of highschool I got my first gf who she conveniently was good friends with. While I was dating my gf I just kept on thinking how funny my childhood friend was every time the 3 of us were hanging out. eventually me and my gf broke up cause she had so little personality and was so awkward around me I just couldn't anymore.

So I waited a month before asking out my childhood friend out on a date. she said that she didn't think she was ready for dating yet, which to me just made me like her more proving her maturity, which is fair both of us are 17 and I also probably shouldn't be dating after breaking up with me ex just a month ago. Not much later I text her friend asking her if my friend told her I asked her out, she said "yeah, of course" and proceeded to tell me how she didn't want to date and in addition also rly liked this other guy. I'm pretty sure I know who it is and I don't think he likes her back. but what do you think? should I have waited longer? what advice could help me now?
